Well. I have a new software to do charts. It makes a 20 page booklet and it is really pretty with a light lavender paper with stars above each heading. The stars keep moving and if I try to get a topic to move up, it changes the font entirely and it looks like a mess I have someone who is good with computers who can come over and show me how to use it. I just wonder if it is super hard. Is it logical as most things on computers are? Thank you Lonake xoxxox ------------------ Passion, Lust, Desire. Sounds like a formatting issue. If the default formatting above that graphic is different from the default formatting below it, then the text when moved up will switch. You have the option with images of being able to easily drag them around, right click, size and position, text wrapping, in front of text. This makes the words into a seamless document and when you're ready you can plop the image where you want after you're finished moving them around.IP: Logged |

Don't worry. It's not hard. I've been using it basically every day since HS. Once she explains it you will definitely understand because there is nothing difficult about it! The only problem could be if the files are in a format that is not supported by Word. Then you may need to download a different program that can open the files properly. Otherwise it might just be what Lonake mentioned - repositioning the images & changing the font. I'm sure she will show you! There's no reason to be embarrassed. It is straightforward - With your Gemini placements you'll be a Word addict in no time. & No - to answer your question - Word is quite reliable.. You don't normally lose files - unless your computer crashes or runs out of batteries... and you didn't save your document. So it's important to keep saving it every few minutes, if you are in the process of writing something. Once saved - it never disappears. But whatever you ADD after you saved it --- Lets say you typed 2 more paragraphs since your last *save* - and then something happens and your computer shuts down.... you MAY have lost those 2 paragraphs that were not saved. Although, Word also has a recovery system - so - with some luck - you still wouldn't lose your last 2 paragraphs.. But it is best to always save. ------------------ Cap Moon-Pisces Merc-Taurus Venus-Cap Mars conj Neptune-Pisces Jupiter. These are my placements. If you are a friend of mine then you probably know who I am. Please don't post it on LL. If you are unsure - you can email me on the email in my profile. IP: Logged |

If you have Windows and something screwy happens there's a utility called System Restore. You can search for it on the hard drive from the start icon I believe. Every so often it saves an image (if that is the right term) of the contents on your hard drive, and it has different points that you can restore your system to, just in case something funny happens. It won't recover deleted files but if your system malfunctions it will help to get it back to earlier point to where it's functional. Windows XP Windows 7IP: Logged |

I agree with Lonake, sounds like a formatting problemWorst cast scenario you can do a screengrab. Press the "Prt Sc" button on your keyboard, open Microsoft paint and click paste it will take a picture of your entire computer screen. Then you can edit the charts in Microsoft paint. System restore is good, but not great. I whould sugest if your willing to spend the extra money get a software called acronis, it basicly takes an image of the entire PC, even the operating system. Your 110% guaranteed with acronis, Microsoft hates acronics for that reason. quote: Originally posted by Odette: ...The only problem could be if the files are in a format that is not supported by Word. If all else fails you can open 90% of all files in notepad, Notepad++ is 98% of all files. What is the file extension? if you right click on the file, click on properties it should tell you what the file extension is If you find out the file extension you can figure out what software/programs are compatible with the file. For example .doc and .docx are Microsoft word file extensions and can only be opened by ms word, notepad, openoffice and other word processors. --------------------------------------- Capircorn Rising Gemini Sun, 5th House Aries Moon Mercury in Gemini Venus In Taurus IP: Logged |

Thanks for asking Randall. I have one of my son's friends coming over to teach me on Monday! I, also, bookmarked a tutorial on U Tube. I should be able to teach myself. I like to learn things myself. It is a good challenge.------------------ Passion, Lust, Desire. Check out my journal http://www.mychristianpsychic.com/

This is very inspiring for me since I have Gemini NN and I want to learn how to embrace it. Thank you Ami! And btw, there are tips in Microsoft Word, in the help section (or if you press F1), also I don't know which version you have, but there are a few super cute assistants there (like a dog, a cat etc) that will try to guess what you're trying to do and help you with it! I thought that was uber-cute lol and made learning it more fun. I think you might find them also in the Help section - Show Office Assistant. Good luck! IP: Logged |
