I enjoyed the opening ceremony last night - the bits that I saw. The Queen with Bond (and her corgis), the music and the history - the celebration of the NHS and Mary Poppins, and Mr. Bean. - and my favourite part: the kids lighting the cauldron together (or the torches, with them moving together to form one big flame).

I was just wondering what other did, or didn't like - if you watched. I recorded a repeat, so that I could see the parts that I missed.

I enjoyed the parade of nations the most. Too bad there were so many commercial breaks... Anyway, the entire production was amazing.

I caught snipets here and there. Usually I am eager to watch them but this season is so up & down, I just don`t have the interest

Altho, I would never miss the gymnastics! My favorite event.

What was up with the baby`s head?

Huh? Did I miss it?

Your friend shouldn't feel bad. It is big just to participate!

d'Oh.. I spotted this thread just after I started one on the Olympics! *facepalm*

I loved most of it - I didn't get to see as much of the first part as I was making dinner ) and my husband had to explain to me what that was, because I didn't get that it was about how England developed over time.

I liked that the Queen was sportive enough to film that segment with Bond, but she looked a bit strained through the most of the rest of the ceremony.

I enjoyed Mr. Bean's antics, and marveled over the lighting of that impressive torch - what a sight!!

Those were my favorite parts - I liked also that they had J K Rowling reading excerpts & participating in the ceremony, though the part with the children in bed & their nightmares was weird for me.

Glad it's over. Back to my regularly scheduled programs.
