I wouldn't normally post an "alert post" (sorry if it's breaking any rules), but I've been on only intermittently lately and want to ensure that Juni (and Randall ) check/s over in LoL.

Sweet!

Two of our hens are laying now, too.
6-10 green eggs a week

The Welsummers are taking their time.

Hey thats great! Chickens require 14 hrs of daylight to lay super so we are on the downhill slide.

Get lights and fool the biddies

Do you think a little solar jobbie would do the job?

I'm not sure that running power out to the coop's in the offing this Fall.

Green eggs! All we need now is green ham.

Hmmm, solar wouldn`t do the job here. I guess it depends on your ratio of cloudy to sunny days there.

Here it is too bitter (-10) and the biddies would freeze to death w/out heat lamps.

Is it possable early winter to run a weather proof extension cord to the coop? That`s what I did before the electric to it was installed.

Side note. I was given a couple bushel of deformed carrots (not marketable) so

I threw 1/2 in the hen yard and my usual light green eggs are comming out pretty pinkish

We're not neeeearly that cold here, though I may try to run something out for our coldest mid-winter nights (teens or so).

That's HILARIOUS re: your eggs
I'll have to try that.

Do you have any Welsummers?
My biddies of that stripe still aren't mature.
The EEs sit down quite nicely when I go to move them (F was icked out when I told him why they sit down for us now), but the Wellies still run around like goofballs. http://instagr.am/p/QAUKELoWdy/
