Hello everyone

I'm attempting to learn French through independent study(thank goodness for libraries and free learning materials). I took Spanish in high school and find that it helps a bit with reading and verb conjugation.

I'm still pretty newbie and this and I feel really anxious and nervous with a formal instructor. I know I can do it though and need to stop psyching myself out @__@.

I was wondering if anyone had any helpful advice or tips that helped with learning another language? Thank for your time .

Try to immerse yourself in French culture.
Talk to native speakers. That's the best way to learn a language.

Don't be afraid to get a formal instructor. You pay them to correct your mistakes and teach you.

The local people really appreciate it when you try to speak their language.
I have often visited Germany. This is how I really learned to speak German.
From the moment they say that you speak their language well you've reached a milestone.

Good luck with your study !

My sweetheart lives in France and is a native speaker. I spoke with him a bit about being nervous and he told me that he would speak English only to me if it bothers me lol. This makes me want to learn French
even more.

Thanks for the tips so far everyone <3 . Maybe I can begin with nursery rhyme songs in French to get me started when it comes to music .
