I`m in southern ontario and it`s windy here but it ain`t from the storm it`s from that system colliding with the hurricane.Been raining for a good 3 days now and i am sick of it.

Were suppose to get 100km wind gusts here and i am hoping that we don`t get any snow with it either.

I don't think so. A high wind warning until around 4pm tomorrow, is what I heard again this afternoon.

My aunt was supposed to fly in today, with her husband, but the storm changed their plans, so they fly in at around 10pm tomorrow.

As soon as this clears, I'm joining the neighborhood task force and rescuing the elderly and the stray pets. Then going down to the shelters to help the needy and the newly homeless. The guys in the neighborhood do this after every storm.

I'll remind F of that.

I'm glad to hear that everyone's doing well so far, though I guess someone probably wouldn't rush to post if they were doing really awful.

It's not been much yet here.
We've gotten a few inches of rain and the lights have flickered a time or two, but they say that the real wind'll start up around sunset tonight.
We're sleeping downstairs in deference to the large oak on the bedroom side of the house.
Most everything's shut down and they're advising all non-emergency personnel to stay off of the roads.
The DMV has rolled up the sidewalks.

YTA - I have some friends with beach houses who've posted devastating pics. How's your area holding up?

My brother just posted on FB that Avenue B in downtown Manhattan is a white water river and a huge transformer just blew.

I live 16 mi. from the D.C. line.

Minor flooding on the north corner of the ground floor condo- I'm sucking it up w/ the carpet cleaner.

bout a gallon every hour or 2.

I was outside just now and the wind is fierce. 40 mph- heavier gusts ,flashes of lightning.

I have power [all fingers crossed].

hope all flakes stay warm & dry.

It amazes me how some leaves hang on tenaciously to the trees.

Node - We're about 20 miles from DC (VA side).
Have you seen any of the crazy green flashes we've seen?

Transformers, maybe?
There've been a ton, though.

ooh, I'm thinking of you all out there.

We had to be out in the wind and rain tonight, and it was just horrible - and we aren't getting anywhere near what those of you are getting on the east coast.

The wind's really died down here.

We lost power around 11am and waited until now to start the generator (cold).

Hope everyone is safe in the East Coast.
It is a scary storm in the US, we are having a smaller storm at the same moment in Chennai, as if there is a synchronization.

I think they are transformers.

As we were driving from NE PA to SE PA last night, we saw three or four of those green flashes as we passed Lehigh. Then I was looking at the outtage map on the computer last night, and Lehigh was totally out of power.

Yes, I spent a lot of time praying, last night. I couldn't sleep so I thought that meant I should pray. So far, all my friends are OK.
I send my prayers out to everyone who has been touched by the storm

Yep, transformers they were

re: the generator: A few days in 100 degree heat with no power while I pregnant was enough to convince us to get one.

Glad to know that everyone's safe.

YTA - Hope you get power back soon.

Mockingbird ,
Just looking in on you & family.

Oddly enough, we sustained considerable more damage than Rhode Islanders did. The storming lasted 2 days longer here than Sandy on the East and it`s still ugly out. Power comes and goes at the whim of blowing branchs and falling limbs. We are used to November gales and snow but sure wishing for some sun .

I`m praying you all have enough supplies to get through the clean up.
