I have a question. Like Facebook, does it allow you to message your friends and receive a text that you have a response...and allow you to respond back via texting? IP: Logged |

I have it but I don't think it has that functionality. You can create a little community with other Google+ members & you can chat in your profile but I don't think it can do text. I think you get email notifications when there's new activity, including messages.IP: Logged |

You can message with someone on your or their wall and limit those who can see to only the person you're talking with.------------------ If I've included this sig, it's because I'm posting from a mobile device. Please excuse all outrageous typos and confusing auto-corrects. IP: Logged |

I've got Google+ and prefer it to facebook, it's actually much better if you like a certain amount of privacy. Nobody can post something straight onto your wall ~ they can only reply to your posts. Just trying to figure the message thing out, I'll let you know if I ever suss it out, the groups are way better...much more flexibility. If I had to compare ~ Google+ is Starbucks and Facebook is Macdonalds. The temperament is different.....steadier, seems to be less spam, the photo storage/viewing is much better. I still play games on FB though and have a work page there so I can't get rid of it. But Google+ has a more professional feel about it. It's easier to separate people in to groups too, and limit your post audience. It is just the messaging thing ~ but I quite like not being so available. And on your about page you can put your contact details, and link up all your other profiles such as twitter, facebook, etc IP: Logged |

Just read a news article that said Google+ is now 2nd largest social networking place after Facebook. So it seems to be picking up a bit IP: Logged |

I made a new acquaintance, she has a yahoo account, and she sent an email to my gmail account. Along with her email came a family portrait and profile info: the name of her college, her occupation, location, and friends who have included her in Google +I asked her if she had sent that picture intentionally and she said "No, how funny that it showed up!" I guess she has a Google + account... 'Just Googled her and YES, she does, it's public... So when she sends mail to Gmail, her Google +info automatically appears (though she was unaware of that.) That kind of thing is just annoying to me. If I want a picture or information sent, I will send it. But I realize most people don't care about that stuff. IP: Logged |

All/any google+ profiles can be set to private, mine's public because of work. One of the things I do like about those profiles is that if you include the link in any written work, you're tagged as the author. I'm hoping it'll reduce copyright theft for online writers. It's a bit of a minefield ~ how much info to share/not share, I can't see why it's any different to public life. If you don't want the neighbours knowing your business...don't tell them. Anonymity is both a blessing and a curse on the internet. If you want to hide you can. IP: Logged |
