Seems the loosers like the Toyotas for the whole $60 something of platinum they get out of it...cost me $1200 to replace last time.

It makes me so darn mad that I can not drive the truck of my choice cause somebody will, eventually saw off the cat!

Soooo......I have a friend whose son had a shop and is an accomplished welder. They refurbish old trucks and race them, they have dragsters in their shop...I TRUST them.

Dropped off my poor, broken once again Toy with them...they will either straight pipe it or fashion a "fake" catalytic convertor.

I am not trying to get around the system, just the thugs of San Anto!

Really, I think Toyota needs to do something about this....

grrrrr...

It is only meant to be temporary. I am haulted on fixing up my house without my b-loved Toy....

I will, seek when I fix it, an aftermarket cat...I have researched and it seems those are less likely to be taken?

They have welded on a false cat, so basically straight piped. Noise reduction and protecting the motor is paramount to me!

They, hopefully, have disabeled the check engin prompts. He ran no different without a cat than with, my second "rodeo."

A guy I work with has a Dodge. He recently "upgraded" his exhaust, but what he did is remove the cat, place dual exhausts and it sounds bada$$.

IF I get pulled over, the cat will have heaviness in it, so if somebody knocks on it, no hollowness.

Texas, in my experience, has never tested emissions, but I suppose a loud vehicle would prompt one to do so.

But I have friends in low places...(quoting Garth Brooks there, ) and will do what I have to do.

It just infuriates me that I can not drive the truck of my choice, so who has the last laugh now?

Could you please elaborate on the "liquid" statement?

I like straight pipe as well. But it's a matter of personal preference. Straight pipe sounds right on a sports car, and I also just upgraded mine last year to a genuine quad exhaust system. It'll sound ridiculous on a minivan. On a truck, there may be a macho-ness factor that is cool.

As far as the "check engine lights," a simple tune up will take care of that. ECM = Electronic Control Module, otherwise known as the "computer." That involves the PCV Valve, the Relays, the Sensors, the MAP Sensor, the Mass Air Flow Sensor, etc. Basically, a car without cats has a free flow exhaust system and may either run "lean" (lacking air) or run "rich" (too much gas) depending on circumstances. Sounds like your friends know exactly what to do.

As far as "liquid," anything that is Toyota is in high demand. There is an active resale market for Toyota parts, whether OEM or alternate brand replacement parts.

Let's say I park a car that is less popular on the streets - for example, an Isuzu Rodeo. Why would someone go through the trouble of cutting off the cats on an Isuzu when he can't re-sell the cats for money?

I got it back, they ended up just straight piping it so the next time some looser climbs under it, they will be disappointed.

It runs the same, but sounds a bit different, but I have my truck back!!!

I wonder if Toyota has considered doing something about this?

I will be selling my Miata soon and replace it with a larger block Toy truck to haul a travel trailer as my intention is to do travel nursing, but I am quite leary about owning two Toyota trucks since their parts are in such demand.

The same thing applies to the Honda, Ford and Chevy folks, so don't be alarmed.

You see, many of the parts for these manufacturers are also cross-platform. For example, I would bet that the cats on a Tacoma are the same on a 4Runner, FJ Cruiser, Highlander and possibly a Rav4 and Venza or even a Tundra, Sequoia and Land Cruiser.
