I'm big on satire, like The Larry Sanders Show and Monty Python. I also really like slasher films and exploitation and horror films in general. I haven't seen all the slasher films I'd like because I wasn't around when the mass majority of them were made, and it's hard to find some of them online. Anyway, though, does anyone else like these two things?Favorite TV shows: ・The Larry Sanders Show ・Monty Python's Flying Circus ・Invader Zim ・Curb Your Enthusiasm ・The Colbert Report ・The Daily Show with Jon Stewart I also like reality TV, and aren't too ashamed of it. Favorite slasher films: ・The Hills Have Eyes (1977 original) ・Eaten Alive ・Halloween ・Suspiria I'm also a big Quentin Tarantino fan! But I like things like Kubrick and P.T. Anderson, too. It's not a good idea posting your e-mail address on here. IP: Logged |

There are bots that search popular sites like this for email addies to spam and worse (I don't know if it was a coincidence but I shared an email addy of mine on LL before so someone could contact me, luckily one I almost never used anyway, and within 24 hours I was being spoofed at that addy and had to do some work to fix it). In addition there have been a few people (some who may otherwise lurk and never actually post here, possibly even banned trolls) who have supposedly sent hostile or harmful messages to those they can. I've only heard about that a few times, and not for a long time, but I count it as another reason I don't want to share my email here. IP: Logged |

As for the original question, I love satires, but the Daily Show is the only one listed that I like. Otherwise I like Kim Possible (which includes a lot of social satire as well as satire against the spy & superhero genres) and Onion. I love MAD magazine, but only rarely liked MADTV. I used to love South Park but as I've gotten older I like it a lot less (though I'll still watch it once in awhile). Family Guy is hit or miss with me, sometimes it's not funny (and may even be annoying) while other times it can make me laugh really hard, but I generally only watch it when others do. I want to see more Drawn Together to decide what I think of it. Robot Chicken has had me rolling many times despite that I'm normally not into slapstick (rather, I like how they twist and mock popular movies & series). I'm one of the few people who doesn't care much for Monty Python, but I did think the annoying peasant was one of the most brilliant comedy sketches ever. As for slashers, I generally can't stand them. Back when I was 17 I did see Scream 1-3 (2 on vid, 1 at the cinema) which I kinda liked but never felt like seeing again, and now I really can't remember most of it. And I recall I did get a chuckle out of Jason X (which my cousin showed me after I tried explaining transhumanism to him), not that I've ever felt like watching it again. That said, I did see some of the Halloween movies just because I'm a fan of Donald Sutherland...and I actually ended up getting my own copy of Halloween 4 & 5 (much preferred 4 to 5) as I very much liked the characters, which surprised just about everyone who knows me (though partially it was because both were under $5). But most of the time slashers just get my adrenaline going and really tick me off so that I avoid them. But I can enjoy horror (I prefer mood to gore, but can handle gore if it's a good story), and I prefer vampires to being scary (even monstrous) rather than romantic. I'm also a fan of the character Ash (Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness) and have been meaning to get (preferably borrow) the comic where Ash fights both Jason & Freddy Krueger. IP: Logged |

If you want to email Stawr then go to one of the forums on LL that she moderates (such as Hearth & Home) and click on her name on the left hand corner at the top. But I'd think some place like Facebook or IMDB (I'm not a member of either) would be better for discussing these genres in depth. And a quick search found this thread (started years ago but last post was about a week ago): http://www.empireonline.com/forum/tm.asp?m=1952216 IP: Logged |

As a popular site, we get crawled by SPAMbots frequently, and if you post e-mail addresses you will find yourself bombarded by porn, viruses, and other unwanted e-mails. Not to mention the fact that it will be in search enghines, so anyone in your private life who Googles your e-mail address will pull up what you've said here. ------------------ "Don't worry about the world coming to an end today.
