Your significant other is shopping for a card to commemorate a special occasion. Are you most impressed by a lavish, expensive card with extras like candy or a frugal selection s/he spent time perusing to get the sentiment right? Either way, Happy Valentines Day and may you receive the one to make your heart melt

The thought matters most to me. If you really know me, you'll know what to [not]get me for V-day. IP: Logged |

I have homemade cards hanging where I can see them as they really show the love & care. A great many store bought cards I've received have been put in a drawer and finally in the trash, though there are a few I keep around (either in a drawer or where I can see them), typically either because it was so well chosen or because of like a poem or other sentiment written within. If someone just wanted to throw a few dollars at me out of a Valentine obligation then they'd do better to like buy me a book from a used book store (they could sign it just like a card), it would cost about as much (maybe even less) than a card and I'd look at it more, thinking of whoever got it for me when I did, which would be a lot if I actually liked it (and if I liked it they'd get points for knowing me well enough to know what I liked as that means they were paying attention & cared). I love home made cards too. As long as it has flowers and sunshine on it, the rest is just icing on my cake ------------------ We need to listen to our own song, and share it with others, but not force it on them. I don't have a significant other, but anyone who knows me would probably give me a little something related to an interest. A gift card to a bookstore would be nice, too. (I never get to visit used bookstores here - I don't know where they are.)IP: Logged |

I'm getting a poem and it's the best thing ever. ...and a new audio receiver, but that's because our old one pooped out and I said that it should be my V-Day gift so he wouldn't feel bad about spending the money.

But, to answer the question, I'd rather have something made/composed than bought at all.Though, if you're going to buy me something, electronics or a book I've been eyeing are both good bets. ------------------ If I've included this sig, it's because I'm posting from a mobile device. peregrine... I liked your song. I hope I find someone who truly feels that way about me some day. I have an aquaintance who keeps flipping double messages to me (aquaMoon)- dry emotionally - I hate that 'obligatory' stuff, to tell the truth. Happy Valentine's to everyone IP: Logged |
