But I'm listening to some special meditative music before bed which seems to help. I bought a bunch of great meditation cds with binural beats a long time ago from the Monroe Institute and one of them is for healing addictions. It seems to be helping. I've a bunch of others I've collected throughout the years and listen to them sometimes too.

Thanks for the support guys.

Did you try self hypnosis? I want to try it for weight loss in combination with binaural sounds and subliminal messages. I don't see why it Wouldn't work for quitting smoking as well.

For smoking I thought Allen Carr's book was helpful. For weight loss not so much..

Well, I got certified in it (hypnosis) many, many years ago. It never seemed to work well for me. & i don't believe the bs they say that the smarter you are, the more hypnotizable you are. My instructor was playing games. i decided it wasnt best to call him out on it in front of the class though.

Some people respond really well to hypnosis. I don't. I do believe mediation with or without music or binural or monural beats etc can be very helpful. What's worked best for me in general is creative meditative visualization exercises. Once you relax your body and mind from head to toe and can get into an alpha or in between alpha and theta state, a lot of healing can take place.

Brainwave entrainment is where it's at, imo. It's a matter of getting to a relaxed state of mind DAILY (nothing happens over night, got to be persistant) and using subliminals, or not. Getting into a peaceful state of mind daily can do you wonders.

& yeah, Carr's method is good....i think i didnt give it enough of a shot when i ran into it.

So many methods. Can't go wrong experimenting and finding out what works for you.

Yup gettin your Virgo Moon on ! Congratulations for even attempting
I know some Virgo Moons they want things to be just so, and the chaos can overwhelm sometimes. And me with Moon 6th, I have no idea what they mean Haha yea right. There are levels to my calm down strategies. 1) foot bath. 2) simple shower, wash away all my cares. 3) won't say here but it's a SPITR term! Virgo is a physical earth sign after all. 4) body mud mask. 5) termed the 'relaxation overdose' - warm bath, lil drinky-poo on the side, emphasis on little (but strong! haha), lights out, candles, relaxing music (i like nina simone usually), #3 before/after. This one works but I have to make time for it, aka shut out the world. This is my method to keep me from ravaging sweets/carbs! and calm down my other emotional/stress concerns so that I can get my head screwed on straight.
The take a deep breath strategy has never worked for me? But I wonder if I what I do are crutches anyway...

Anyway best to you! Whatever works!

Ha! Yeah, Moon in 6th, you get it. I like your calm down strategies. I wonder why I don't think to pamper myself more often. That might be a good idea. Getting to the coast is probably the best way for me to destress. I feel better after a day or even a few hours out there. Walking on the sand and later sitting under a tiki hut, live music, cool drink and gorgeous sunset, is my idea of a perfect and relaxing day. Maybe i'll get out there tomorrow.

Thanks for the well wishes, L

Hypnosis didn't work for me either, before. Neither did meditation. I honestly thought I suck at it and put it aside me. Maybe it's Pluto transiting my 12th that has made me more receptive to it (when I tried it previously, Pluto was in late 11H). You're also Cap rising, right? Though I was conscious, it surprised even myself that when the voice on the tape said "close your eyes" or "open your eyes" etc, I would execute the command instantly. Before I was like Yeah right. lol Just didn't work on me.
The other day I listened to a piece about procrastination with subliminal messages and afterwards I was in a very proactive mood! It didn't last long though, lol, but I will keep listening to it.

Theta state is so fascinating!! Thank you for sharing the link.

The first time I read Carr's book, I was simply annoyed lol. But I kept on reading. I had already quit before starting it and it kind of made me nervous to read about smoking lmao. I guess it helped me see smoking for what I already knew it was but perhaps was unwilling to admit it openly - an addiction. Very much like actual drugs. I know I have an addictive tendency and have always hated to lose control over to addiction. So I think this is why the book worked on me.

Traditional meditation has been a tough one for me too. Especially in group meditations. I can't help but keep one eye squinted open and survey the room with it and find all kinds of things to have to stifle a laugh about or want to start chuckling when I hear the person next to me stomach gurgle. So immature, i know. I've had some pretty funny experiences at this one place i lived at that would make for a good comedic routine (we meditated on the dot, morning, noon and night). Traditional meditation is too distracting even when alone. It's outdated for the modern person. I'm not about meditating for 40 years, when I could get there sooner with the help of other mediums. We are in a new world now. Music and brainwave entrianment/bi-beats helps me, but I am picky with it. I've one that has a lot of piano in it and it bugs me. Like I said, I find guided meditations very helpful (they keep my mind focussed). Since i can easily visualize things and situations, i find guided meditations to be my favorite. They can become quite colorful. They can do more for you than trying to sit around and get your mind completely blank (very hard and boring). You can get your mind to the same state, without it having to be completly blank.

Yeah, the subliminals can work well, but they do take time. If you really want them to work you really have to make a habit of listening to them or else it's pointless.

I guess I have an addictive tendency too. Doesnt make us bad guys. I feel like at least I am not taking drugs that docs will dish out. I'll handle it and self medicate when need be on my own, rather than get addicted to hard (extremely addicting) legal drugs. No thanks. I'll get where I'm going without those, tyvm.

rambling....hugs Hera. We are probably doing better than we think we are. Especially compared to a lot of people...

ultimately our lives should be a living, breathing, waking, walking meditation.

We don't have to be sitting in lotus position to be meditating, do we?
