I remember in a forum I used to go to, one girl was not necessarily anti-American but neither was she loyal to the country.

In fact I remember she even stated she'd love for a rich hot guy to come and pick he rup as a mistress or bride. She'd leave America in an instant and even permanently denounce her American citizenship forever. She's a white native-born American BTW.

She's not a traitor who spouts anti-American stuff in the site but she's rather tolerant of people's support of anti-American stuff such as right to burn American flag and even espouts criticism to the US government in the site I went to.

In other words she doesn't care about the country.

I seen other American women saying they'd gladly immigrate with this hot actor or that hot businessman or so if one day he suddenly knocked on their home's doors and proposed to them. Yes they would forsake their American citizenry forever and don't care about going back to America except to visit relatives.

Grace Kelly is a famous example of an American celrbity who did this.

What do you think of such women?

About the same as I'd think of a Californian who married a rich, handsome Texan, moved to Texas, and never returned to California save to see relatives. If I wanted to criticize such women I'd do it for those who'd marry a hot actor or businessman who just showed up on their door to propose as being very shallow that they'd marry anyone who fit that criteria without bothering to get to know the person first.

And would it be any more "heinous" to you than an American man who agreed to renounce citizenship forever if he got paid a 6-figure salary (or more!) with fewer taxes (and lower prices so his money goes further, too) in some other country? Individualism and getting ahead IS the American way!

Seriously, if you want to criticize someone for being unpatriotic like this then why don't you concern yourself with America's big businesses who move jobs oversees to countries without unions and where they can use child labor & sweatshops with impunity while not coming down on their prices in America? That seems far more harmful to America than a woman who gets married as the business hurts & exploits many Americans (as well as others) in the process (as well as subverting democracy with bribery both fair & foul), not simply removing one person.

As for me, if I didn't have to worry about supporting myself (that includes the possibility that I could support myself, perhaps on the internet) I'd love to see the world, and I wouldn't be adverse to leaving America and never coming back (save friends & relatives, of course), and have looked at the possibility of immigrating before. The US Government and the nation-state mean nothing to me (that's not to say people living within America mean nothing to me).

Oh, and for criticizing the US Government and patriotism...

Btw, thank goodness for all the people who criticized the government so that slavery is gone, racism (and other forms of bigotry) are passing away, women can vote, etc. My favorite American historical figures (politically speaking) have been Abigail Adams (too bad she wasn't able to foment that rebellion of women she promised) and Sam Houston (who as a military officer was sent to massacre innocent natives for the greed of white men but instead "unpatriotically"--good for him!--manipulated the legal system and not only refused to carry out the sociopathic order of the government but then got the tribe protection under US law, and it cost him his military career, but then he went on to help slaves escape among other mischief that makes flag burning look idle in comparison, though Texans like to gloss over that part of his life.)

Btw, I hope you don't think I'm obligated to have children to serve America as soldiers and tax cows as I find that attitude both disturbing and very offensive, both to me and to any children I might have. You don't say that (and could just be you find it as wrong as some people find it when others in their town or state wear the "wrong colors" of an opposing sport team), but the assumption that an American woman would otherwise have kids to serve America if she remained with the country of her birth could easily be in there.

Some people have tried to guilt me (and all women) into doing that for a variety of pet causes (ideological, national, and even religious & racial). At least a handful even get extreme about it and believe rape is permissible (or at least should be) if a woman doesn't agree to be a breeding cow for them of her own free will (and that she, and her children, belong to their pet cause).

PixieJane I am not criticizing girls who do such thing. Contrary I am not a Patriot (well I was once a diehard patriot but I no longer care)but I decided to ask tis question out of sheer philosophical curiosity.

I've been recently called a traitor in another website merely because I stated just because a soldier died fighting in war doesn't mean he is a hero and in fact he may even be a crooked criminal.

I wouldn't call such a woman a cowardly traitor because I have no loyalty to country anyway.

I can't wait for the day when Americans realise that Patriotism is so 1800s. Granted America as a country has only been around for a few hundred years. Patriotism and nationalism have already been dealt with by the vast majority of the developed world. By this standard, America is similar to North Korea, China, Russia, and other nationalist countries.

Leaving your country is not being a traitor, denouncing your citizenship, is not being a traitor.

We are all a part of one world. Surely when you express negativity about other parts of the world, you are being a traitor to humanity? When you condemn others, enslave, slaughter, and deny them the same rights the rest of us have, you are a traitor to humanity?

I don't know why it bothers some people that others would want to leave America, or other countries of their birth. The world is a beautiful and wonderful place. I don't know how much they have traveled. I would suggest seeing some of the world before they continue to espouse such views as, "America is the greatest most best and beautiful country on Earth.

If you couldn't tell, yes I do get aggravated when people don't even consider other possibilities and wonders.

Patriotism and Nationalism are what started both World Wars, and many other wars as well.
