Let's see... a chick got banned and a group of posters decided to flood the forums with protests.
If they didn't like someone they would run them off the board.
If someone they didn't know posted something in one of "their" threads, they would tell them to get out.
They hacked the site, changed everyone they didn't like's name to some extremely disgusting things.
One girl was their friend for awhile, she had told them some pretty personal stuff, including about one time when she tried to off herself in the bathtub. When they did the whole name change thing, they changed her name to "Bloodybath" - pushing an already unstable woman to the brink of suicide, so bad the Moderators contacted her local police dept after a "goodbye" post.
They had their own website where they would choose someone every week to be mean to, and even got some of the forums Moderators to share private information about those people to help fuel their plans.
If they got banned, they would change their IP address and create a new account to spam the server.

There were over a million posters on those forums... and they thought they were the only ones that mattered, because they were from the group that came first.

These women were in their 20's, some even in their 30's.

Know what I did? I was an admin on the site for a little while. I unbanned them all, wrote up some new rules, made sure everyone read those rules, set up a warning system (something the board didn't previously have, previously it was if you break a rule you're banned for a short while), then gave them their own forum area where they could act like little idiots without getting into trouble. Told them, "You want to act like that, then fine, do it there. But you bring it into the rest of the forum and you'll get banned again.

It worked. They got fair treatment, they got their freedom in a manner that could be controlled... and then they got bored and eventually stopped, stayed in their area and chatted only with each other, or left the site completely.

To this day I cannot believe the cruelty and vileness of those grown women.

With all the cruelty in this world, I'm sooo glad we cooperate and communicate here to help make it a "good" experience for us and everyone. This makes for a "welcoming spirit" here to newcomers.

I know how life can be so hard... Thanks Randall, with all my heart, for all the time, hard work, and your Solomon type wisdoms and efforts here.... I notice you. Your devotion is not without reward--- What you do is 'making a difference' in people's lives.

I've only been here a year, and I saw LL go through a couple storms... C'est la vie!! Randall, you should feel very proud of decisions you've made. I can imagine what an uncomfortable strain you've been under. You've shown that you are not afraid to experiment, and change. The results should be good in the long run because your basic 'values' are in a very good place for LL.

I see good results, and new growth is bearing awesome fruit.

That's funny to me because one of the reasons my BFF gets called an "oreo" (black on the outside, white on the inside) is because she's good with computers. It sounds to me like those who play these games on Lipstick Alley would face similar terms of derision.

And a black guy I know gets called "oreo" so much for being smart that he can't even stand to look at real oreos.

And then I saw one black lady on YT who was an awesome speaker and doing good in college. She got called "oreo" too so she embraced it as a word of pride (not to say she was trying to "be white" just that she wasn't hating herself by internalizing racist expectations of white bigots as so many others did who remained in the ditches while she pulled herself up by her own bootstraps).
