X-Men implies both genders. There are people with true super powers. For example, some people can remember every event in their life including the exact date it happened. What's your super power?I can eat ice cream fast and never get brain freeze. I don't even know what that feels like, because I am immune to it. I guess I will never save the world with that one, huh? I can see in the dark much like a cat (I suppose). For example, I was once walking on the beach at night with a friend who kept walking diagonally toward the ocean until I asked her what she was doing and she admitted to not being able to see, nor could she see the slightly glowing algae in the ocean I could. I finally had to lead her by the hand. That runs in my family, but ONLY by those with ice blue eyes, a fact driven home when only those of us with such eyes could play in the cow pasture at night without worry while the other children couldn't see. It comes at a price, however. We're easier to blind in bright light, florescent gives us headaches (and we often wear cap and/or sunglasses when going to a store that uses such lighting), and night driving is almost impossible as even headlights on low can cause literal pain to our eyes (and therefore can't see that well as all, dazzled at best, and eyes that hurt at worst). It even took me awhile to get used to a computer and even to this day watching vids that flash can cause literal pain to my eyes at times. IP: Logged |

Mine is really unusual, I have a strong sense of smell probably to compensate for the fact that I have very poor eye sight. I can smell things others cant sometimes which is really strange. Its torture to be around someone with BO. I shutter to think how much stronger my sense of smell will get when I am pregnant.Havent met anyone else yet with Hyperosmia. IP: Logged |

Regular size nose, dont know what it could be, mabe genetics. One time when I went to the movies, there was someone sitting behind me that had an aweful smell to them, I was starting to get angry because I couldnt change seats an had trouble watching the film the BO was so strong for me. The whole time I was at that movie, the urge to want to turn around an yell ”Take a shower, you stink”! But since my husband was with me, an the theater was packed I refrained. IP: Logged |

Another super power of mine is that my lips never chap. I can't save the world with that, but my lips will be super soft when I give goodbye kisses when the world ends. IP: Logged |

I have this too, it's called photophobia. Not a fear of light, but an intolerance for light. I have light blue (though not ice blue)eyes and the lighter your iris color the more light that gets bounced around. I have trouble driving at night due to the contrast of the dark and artificial light, and if it's raining forget it. All I see are glares and reflections on the wet roads. My eyes hurt and water when its bright out, and overcast days when the sky is white/light grey are even worse. If the sun is above the horizon I can't go outside without sunglasses. I'm also pale too, and I'm often accused of being a Vampire. Hehe!

My Sense of hearing, i can hear things even in noisy places from afar(once saw someone i kne from an awkward past, in a bar, and i could both hear and lip read what he whispered to his friend about me being there, even though i was at good distance)good if i'm at work, and need to get and edge up on something, while someone is being secretive....absolutely annoying in all other life's situation, like when trying to sleep. i hate telling people to lower the tv, when i already know it's low, but i keep hearing it anyway. (ear pegs i know, yet to find one's that aren't a whole other challenge ) IP: Logged |

Lol oh yes, sometimes when things smell really good, like when I am baking cookies or something its just heavenly an I want to be surrounded by it. But then sometimes I will smell a bad odor thats faint to everyone else, I will start looking for the source of the smell usually until I find it. Drives my husband crazy lol. IP: Logged |

Never met anyone in real life with this. Oh yes, serious torture when people have bad BO or even wear too much perfumes etc. For example; I too hate crowded movie theatres (or parties, weddings, gyms, and so forth)because it is like a being in a room of breath odors, food odors, and bodily stenches mixed with too much perfumes, colognes, makeup, deodorant etc. odors if crowded. Hospitals and doctor offices are often near to unbearable. Blessing and a curse. Happy about it overall even though no fun to have around vile or concentrated odors; It can be/has been a lifesaving ability in some instances, so yeah, rather have it than not. PS. Always had very poor vision and I am partially blind; so like you; I wonder if Hyperosmia is a compensation ability. PPS. Some odors will cause extreme nausea and can cause me to vomit profusely.

Yes, both my husband and I have this. You described well the positives and negatives of this ability. In my husband's situation it became progressively more intense and has become extremely painful and disabling. IP: Logged |

Yes same thing here, where certain bad odors have also made me sick. I do believe when one of the 5 senses is weak or gone the body strengthens another sense for protection. Probably why we have such strong sniffers. IP: Logged |

Yes, Lexxy. Remember I told you guys that I can smell "nerves" on people when they're anxious/nervous etc. Most unpleasant but shame, they can't help it.Yeppers to the perfumes/fragrances and deodrants. Even if much wasn't applied..it smells like overload to me which can cause headaches and nausea. The smell of cinnamon is very pleasant to me. It drives me nuts in a good way. IP: Logged |
