Ooooooo.... I'm going to have to watch that SAS one. Right up my alley! Here's one I like. "The Boy With The Incredible Brain - Extraordinary People" This is the breathtaking story of Daniel Tammet. A twenty-something with extraordinary mental abilities, Daniel is one of the world's few savants. He can do calculations to 100 decimal places in his head, and learn a language in a week. He also meets the world's most famous savant, the man who inspired Dustin Hoffman's character in the Oscar winning film 'Rain Man'. This documentary follows Daniel as he travels to America to meet the scientists who are convinced he may hold the key to unlocking similar abilities in everyone. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWQEDHRkqNk IP: Logged |

One of my favorite documentaries of all time is "cocaine cowboys". It talks about the booming illegal drug trade in Miami during the 1970s and 80s, it is really interesting. I can't link it here with my phone but anyone interested in watching it can find it on netflix.IP: Logged |

Thank you all for the suggestions, I will definitely try at least some of these. I just finished, and really enjoyed:Arthur M. Young: The Reflexive Universe quote: Arthur Middleton Young (November 3, 1905 – May 30, 1995) was an American inventor, helicopter pioneer, cosmologist, philosopher, astrologer and author. Young was the designer of Bell Helicopter's first helicopter, the Model 30, and inventor of the stabilizer bar used on many of Bell's early helicopter designs. He founded the "Institute for the Study of Consciousness" in Berkeley in 1972. Young advocated a process theory, which is a form of integral theory. These theories attempt to integrate the realm of human thought and experience with the realm of science so that the concept of universe is not limited to that which can be physically measured. Young's theory embraces evolution and the concept of the great chain of being. He has influenced such thinkers as Stanislav Grof and Laban Coblentz.

I had planned on watching this tonight and then saw his book at the bookstore, and I love his style of writing, and I love him after seeing this show. I'm almost done... 'just took a break to check his natal chart... http://www.astrotheme.com/astrology/Daniel_Tammet I sensed he was a Pisces moon and he is. (So am I, takes one to know one. ) His Mercury is conjunct mine, less than 1 degree orb, and we both have Venus conjunct Neptune in Sag. I'm so flattered except...well, I'm nothing like him. LOL His Mercury is conjunct Mars (4 degrees) and his sun (7 degrees), with Mercury tightly opposing an exact BML-Jupiter conjunction, giving him so much extra brain power, plus his SN in Pisces (intuition.) Too bad they don't have a birth time for him yet. Fascinating story, many thanks for posting. IP: Logged |
