There are really only less than a handful of active forums. Why do you think you need 4 mods, especially in the dead ones? One active mod should be enough. Its not like fights break out in most of the forums. You seem to be active enough to take care of the odd situation when it arises.

Why the mod overkill.....i mean especially in a forum like Quirky Cusine for example? lol

If lalalinda can handle the most active forums on her own i'm sure the two mods you have in the food forum now will be able to handle it just fine. LOL

We actually have more than a handful of active Forums. Mods do more than just engage in police functions. The Forums that are ripe for growth will be furthered along by active Mods. Several Forums I have left as is, because I know they are slow and will remain slow. And I am for the most part just replacing inactive Mods that were already there with active ones, plus a few more. I help Lala to move threads in her Forum, and things tend to run smoothly in that one.

Plus, LL could benefit by giving others a chance to Mod. New blood is usually a good thing. I only want very active new Mods, though.

Speaking of new blood, volunteers and nominations both are okay. Post on the particular Forum of choice or here.

I prefer you to choose the new mods as you did in the past. Those nominating usually nomintate their "friends" which causes mods to sometimes be biased or vice versa and that doesn't help when a fight breaks out with people choosing sides and all that crap.

Good point. I always choose who I want in the end anyway regardless.

Amen.

What does being a Moderator consist of?

Do you need a fast connection?

In my observations it's always more the members that keep a forum active.

Also why not ask people outright to mod since you probably have a good idea of who would fit the bill already?

I think i have an idea of why Faith stepped down as i've stepped down from the position here 5 or 6 times and understand how one would want to. What a shame to lose a gem like her as a mod though. I hope she still posts here......

This is why I wouldn't want to be a moderator: people will accuse you of taking sides.

Funnily enough, I was just recently nominated to be a moderator on a private board, with people that I've known for a couple of years - nominated by more than one person. I was chosen for really nice reasons, too. But I wouldn't want to be in that position.

It's a fine line because you can't prevent friendships from happening. You have to be able to tell your buds when they are breaking rules etc and they in return need to respect that. It has nothing to do with the friendship..the Mod is just doing their duty and it shouldn't be taken personally.

1. I don't interact as closely with most here, so I can take a nomination and then give that person a better look.

2. Volunteers let me know they are willing to accept.

The members do make LL. The Mods are more like facilitators.

Love you T

Randall I know I was a bit inactive last year due to a serious health issue, some days it hurt to even read I do appreciate all you do and have done and guess what? I'm back and better than ever, reading several hours a day. Your patience meant the world to me.
Lindaland is my precious family.

Next month I will celebrate my 10th year here, and it has gone by so fast. I know you don't like to be called my guru so I'll just call you Big Daddy

I am sorry you had a health issue, Lala. I am glad you are better. If you ever want any natural health info, please write to me. I may be able to offer something of value to you. It would be my pleasure to try, if you are interested
