are there any members on here with books on astrology that have been published by a large publishing company? or anyone who has gone the route of self-pub? would like to hear some tips and how you got it all started. my book is ready for publishers, but thinking maybe self-pub is better??IP: Logged |

They accept anyone, but if it's good, you can make a lot.IP: Logged |

I published two poetry books. My publisher is a step up from a vanity publisher, meaning it didn't cost me anything to publish my books. Also I had free reign with the creating process, which was important to me. However I don't make much of anything, which I'm okay about I'm not in it for the money and the little bit of exposure I receive- I'm satisfied with.Randall's suggestion for you is a good one. As far as self-publishing it definitely can be lucrative in the long run- but you have to be willing to work hard at tackling every avenue to promote yourself and your book. Hope that helps. ------------------ More Poems and Life's Potpourri IP: Logged |

Also to add, if you do submit your manuscript to various publishers and get picked up by one. It's a good idea to hire an attorney to look over the contract before signing. A woman I know who has given me publishing advice along the way is a stickler about reading the fine print. Just a word of caution to be especially mindful of what you're signing if you do go that route. IP: Logged |

i sent it to llewelyn and a few other new age-y ones, but i'm also looking at the self-publishing route. i read today that the usual advance is only 2,000 so yeah, not in it for the money either! i don't know anyone who has self-published, but it seems like it offers a lot more control and options for writers. looking around for some good suggestions though. i found createspace and iuniverse so maybe one of those? it's a new dynamic now with so many epub options. i figured people on LL would have a book out already, but guess not many doIP: Logged |
