I know we have some real fans here so I thought I'd point this out: http://www.nbcnews.com/tech/security/game-thrones-canceled-nope-its-facebook-scam-n126771 quote: No, "Game of Thrones" has not been canceled. The very idea that the hit HBO fantasy series might abruptly end would be horrifying to millions of enthralled fans worldwide — and cybercriminals are using that horror to oil the wheels of a new Facebook scam campaign. These scam Facebook posts claim that "Game of Thrones" will end after the fourth-season finale next week. But clicking on the link in the Facebook post leads to a place nearly as dangerous as north of the Wall — a Web page that claims your Web browser needs to update its Java plugin before you can view the page's contents.

I don't recall who it was but someone at LL actually fell for that scam where a guy from India who can barely speak English claimed to be Microsoft. Frankly, I don't understand how such transparent scams can work but understanding that they do I was just trying to be helpful and spare someone here that. And can't forget that more than one had their computer infected by opening an infected file sent by a "friend" (that is a friend's account hijacked by a virus that then mailed itself out using that account to everyone in the address book). It's pretty easy to avoid them but a lot of people don't think that much about it. Seems it would be real similar to "update Java" to see the vid (though I automatically get out of any site that demands I do something like that). IP: Logged |

Thank you, PJ.Unfortunately there are many who fall prey to such scams.. Like how can anyone fall for it? There are several lotto email scams, claiming that you won $$$$$$$ but to claim your money, you first need to pay an amount into their banking account so that they can release your winnings. *rollseyes* If you know that you didn't enter a competion etc then how the heck can anyone claim you won anything? Yes, there are vulnerable people out there but please be very cautious when it comes to anything on the internet claiming you won tons of money! ------------------ Remember, love can conquer the influences of the planets....It can even eliminate karma.
