Have you received a call that way? I've found that pranksters and scam artists use the number, but the occasional call is genuine, according to the internet. I picked up the third time, and nobody said anything.

I've not gotten a call on my Gmail, but have tried out the call feature and the call ended up being really static-y and echo-y.

I believe you can also get a Google number of your own if you want. I think you have to share your cell phone number and apply for one to get a personal one.

Sounds like your call was a prankster or scam artist.
