How do you meditate? When do you meditate? What are your favorite mantras? Had any interesting experiences meanwhile? What's your style?

I personally find it very hard to meditate nowadays especially because I'm stuck in between these 4 walls, meters above the earth and in the continuous buzzing of the city. Not much accessible nature I can connect with here.

However, I've had a time when I lived next to a forest in a very isolated area, away from any disturbances.

I was meditating everyday in the strong morning/afternoon sun. I can't meditate without sitting in the sun or having sunrays on me. It just feels very empty to me. My main mantra is so-hum : inhale-exhale while having my head raised to the sun with closed eyes. Inhale the warmness and positive energy of the sun while exhaling all the negative energy out . as i'm focusing on my mantra, even if my eyes are closed, my dark vision tends to get lighter and lighter (first I see the darker nuances of the sun : red/orange/yellow, then they slowly turn in white) with every inhale I take. Its like I become one with the sun. Sometimes I'd just imagine myself as a flowe, slowly blossoming in the light of the sun.

I've had a few experiences with unusual white/yellow butterflies which kept on trying to fly to me shortly after I finished. If not, they would just fly around me for the rest of the day if I remained outside. They had some long sharp wings, they weren't really common for the typical butterflies I have in my country. I should give it a search, the first time I saw those kind of butterflies was after I finished meditating.

I just wanted to say that I don't know how all of this meditating would apply to me astrologically, but I quickly realized I'm a fire-air dominant. I only have a planet in water and one in earth, even though all my occupied houses are fire-air tradionally.

I have a fire sun conjunct firey Pluto+chiron, moon, NN and Jupiter
Then an airy mars conjunct airy Neptune, dominant Uranus in air, airy Venus.

What about you?

Ilunatic ... I definitely empathize with you on this. Your description of the little butterflies, and your breathing technique, is very picturesque! I truly enjoyed reading it.

Have you tired a lot of candles?

I'm fire dominant too and since we get our energy from the sun, I too found it hard to mediate in my home.

Also, the moon is my 1st house ruler and I like to sit outside mediate under the moon light.

Thank you so much.. this means so much to me.! Sending you good vibes. I hope one day you'll experience something as beautiful as this, if you haven't, yet.

Maybe you could find a group around your city which could take you in. ! I've had many group meditation experiences and it was so wonderful (though, with people i knew). The leader had such a deep, but soft hypnotizing voice. (Mars/uranus/pluto/Reiki cj his ASC. Powerful stuff.) Perfect for guiding us in different dimensions of being. Everyone syncs so perfectly and becomes like.. a big field of happy blossoming flowers to the light of universe. Worth it!

Hm... candles.. sounds very Wiccan-ish I've been into it for a while, but no more. I don't really have roots, I'm more of an out of this world "sky gazer".
You might like Wicca, it has a lot of connection with the Moon/Sun. I really think it would suit you!

"Wicca is traditionally a duotheistic religion that venerates both a Triple Goddess associated with the moon, stars, and often the Earth, and a Horned God associated with the sun, forests and animals. "

"Wicca is traditionally and primarily a religion centred upon the idea of gender polarity and the worship of a Moon Goddess and a Horned God. (This core theology was originally described by Gerald Gardner, the founder of the religion; and Doreen Valiente, who wrote much of the original liturgical materials.) The Goddess and the God may be regarded as the Divine Feminine and the Divine Masculine. They are complementary opposites or dualities, bearing similarities to the concept of yin and yang in Taoism. The God and Goddess are generally seen as lovers and equals, the Divine Couple who together co-create the cosmos."

"There are many rituals within Wicca, worshipping the deities and working magic. Often these take place on a full moon, or in some cases a new moon, which is known as an Esbat. In typical rites, the coven or solitary assembles inside a ritually cast and purified magic circle. Casting the circle may involve the invocation of the "Guardians" of the cardinal points, alongside their respective classical elements; air, fire, water and earth. Once the circle is cast, a seasonal ritual may be performed, prayers to the God and Goddess are said, and spells are sometimes worked; these may include various forms of 'raising energy', including raising a cone of power for the purposes of sending healing or other magic to persons outside of the sacred space. These rites often include a special set of magical tools. These usually include a knife called an athame, a wand, a pentacle and a chalice, but other tools include a broomstick known as a besom, a cauldron, candles, incense and a curved blade known as a boline. An altar is usually present in the circle, on which ritual tools are placed and representations of the God and the Goddess may be displayed. Before entering the circle, some traditions fast for the day, and/or ritually bathe. After a ritual has finished, the God, Goddess and Guardians are thanked, the directions are dismissed and the circle is closed."

I only use candles for rituals, never mixed it with meditating. I also can't really accept fragrances - like perfumed candles or incense. Nonono. I get sick.

I was just thinking about starting a thread like this. I love meditating. I took a class at the beginning of the year that went over many different types of meditations. We did about 12 I think. It was great because I never would have thought I would like using mantras but that has become my favorite.

The one I use most is a kundalini yoga meditation, Kirtan Kriya or Sa Ta Na Ma. The Alzheimers Association even recommends this meditation because it stimulates your brain. I use other mantras too, like Om Namah Shivaya. Mantras are very powerful.

Meditating outside is very nice. It is good to connect with the earth while meditating, or anytime really. Even when I am not outside I periodically ground myself to the earth through visualization.

The last few weeks I have been spending a lot of time in meditation and feel very 'connected'. By chance I looked at my transits yesterday. I have Sun on my ASC, Kaali retro on my DSC. Kaali squares Samadhi (0) and transiting Samadhi is conjunct natal Samadhi.
