^^That decided me. I was thinking of giving this series a try but was on the fence about it. I'm currently watching a zombie anime but should get through the last of it tomorrow. It might be the perfect time to start a new zombie series. IP: Logged |

Update: I've pretty much got the first 2 seasons knocked out and I think i've pretty much got the show figured out and it's getting pretty predictable. Basically, it tries so hard to be unpredictable that it becomes predictable. In almost every single episode you get lured into thinking that something is going to happen and the exact opposite ends up happening. I'm still enjoying it though and plan to keep watching it. ^^This guy is convinced you can predict what happens next by watching the Toy Story movies! http://www.pleated-jeans.com/2013/03/27/proof-that-the-walking-dead-and-toy-story-have-the-exact-same-plot/ IP: Logged |

Seen the first 2 eps. What I find most disturbing about these zombies is that they sign signs of sentience! Granted, it's vague and shallow at best, but does include tool use (using rocks to smash at windows, through granted even birds have been known to crack open shells with a stone in beak but they still have some sense of self which defines basic sentience), the ability to adapt (such as realizing where a person was hiding and crawling to get at them), and--most of all--that little girl turned zombie who picked up a stuffed animal/plush as if some part of the little girl that zombie had once been was still alive...and feeling scared and alone (seeking comfort). And this actually makes a type of sense when it comes to killing a zombie by killing the brain. While becoming a zombie is horrific enough, the thought of BEING CONSCIOUS just adds to the horror. What does it feel like to be dead? Does it hurt or create feelings that make even an ax used on them pale in comparison? Is there desperation to become living again and perhaps some belief that by eating the living they can be (and perhaps eating the living relieves the pain, though then I have to wonder about the one missing most of her body)? How self-aware are they and how much confusion is there for them? Does that drive them insane so that they're the monsters they are as opposed to merely acting on instinctive hunger? Overall I felt such overwhelming pity for the living dead. And the horror of becoming one is much more intense! IP: Logged |

Those two are awesomeeeeeeness. Great episode, looking forward to tomorrow. I see what you mean about M now, she is getting more hopeful but I stand by that she is still a realist, survivalist and fighter so I don't think the hopefulness will get to the point of getting her killed. ------------------ "Karma needs to be understood, acknowledged, and it needs to be either resolved or dismissed. Samantha: But the heart is not like a box that gets filled up. It expands in size the more you love. I'm different from you. This doesn't make me love you any less. It actually makes me love you more. Theodore Twombly: That doesn't make any sense. You are mine or you are not mine? Samantha: No, Theodore. I'm yours and I'm not yours. http://vimeo.com/43444347 IP: Logged |

m can't die. that will be the end. she is money, and she's great. so...nope. i like to think that her character development has to do with the writers showing a more tender and caring side of michonne. you see, all the other women have ben allowed to be hopeful...carol, maggie, and so on. they've been allowed to be 'rescued' and taken care of too. whereas michonne has been relegated to the 'strong badass (black) woman who needs no man' trope. it is a strong stereotype and harmful. i think that the writers are doing a good job at breaking that. michonne is not just a robot with a katana. M talks about that in Talking dead; her character developing and growing from her wounds. I NEVER SAW HER AS A ROBOT!..She is passionate and deeply loyal, smart, caring but strong and allows herself to feel and be vulnerable when appropriate but she is a survivalist and a fighter as well.. I am definitely not stereotyping her! But I can see what you mean, the writers are ensuring that her character develops more and highlighting the different facets of her personality already there to avoid any possible stereotyping that may occur.
