Maybe #nypd should just hire #swedishcops. It would be more expensive but probably nobody would die due to #roidrage and #racism. — bob.o (@boboesoptimo) April 23, 2015
Those #swedishcops asked the men they detained if they’re alright, if they’re injured. Simple questions that show how humanity works. #NYC

I'm not going to say the Swedes are all perfect but there are some aspects of their society I like, which includes things like this. I recall reading an article by an American who was shocked when someone escaped from a prison and the American asked an armed guard why he wasn't shooting and the guard said, "The helicopters will catch him." I loved that...assuming he wasn't particularly violent like say a serial killer or serial rapist (I read it carefully and it never said what he'd been convicted of). I still prefer it to what we're used to in the US.
Unfortunately some criminals elsewhere in Europe take advantage of that attitude which is causing problems for both Sweden and exploited people elsewhere in Europe and will probably continue until the Swedes do a 180. I wish they could find the balance between kindness and common sense. Contrary to popular belief, those two work best when combined and one doesn't have to choose one over the other.
