Anyone else unhappy about Winter?
I hate it!
Space heaters keep burning out.
No furnace and floors/walls betwixt
28 F
or
-2.22222 C
and
2 F
or
-16.6667 C
I have been quite gloomy to say the least.
35 F or 1.66667 C
to
50 F or 10 C inside air
away from floors/walls
depending on which room.
We also got over 4 feet of snow; that means I could stand in snow and only have my head and tops of shoulders sticking out.
Wearing coats and gloves and hats inside.
BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!
And outside up to -25 F or -31.6667 C or below windchill yesterday.
It was -2 F or -18.8889 C or less all night; with windchill way colder.

I have not been here at LL much because it is just too damn cold to sit at computer.
My apologies but I must try to not freeze.
It really makes being disabled way worse.
TOO FREAKING COLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Will post snow pictures later.

I hear ya Lexx. It was -12 at noon today but I see that as a break in the cold snap.

We also have over 1/2 of our usual winters worth of snow. Keeping the roofs shoveled off has become the most dreaded job here . Moreso than digging out frozen dog poop.

Stay as warm as you can and keep hydrated!

That's life-threatening to a disabled senior, Lexxi.

You should have contacted proper authorities, and got you and you hubby to warm-shelters until that situation is taken care of.

Maybe someone could have supplied you with a 'temporary' good kerosene heater.

There should be Elder Resourcing kinds of numbers you can call?

Also if you reach out to any kind of philosophy group out there that form little service clubs which practice doing Acts of Kindness.... especially during emergencies, you could connect with some aid with/for your house?

The police might know who some of those are.

Certainly had a contact been made to the police, OR The American Red Cross, you could have had people responding to a sick handicapped "SENIOR" -- whose life is in peril and DANGER from cold during an emergic freak-winter-cold event.

Take Care.

Hope you stay warm too. Yeah the ice and snow load breaks trees and collapses roofs. I think our flat roof building might be ruined.
Oh well.

Would not do that even if it was available. Due to my specific disabilities the shelters would be very bad; and for myhusband too(he goes into seizures from certain lights; like the use.) and we have to keep an eye on our water pipes;
already had over almost 2 months household income lost because of a bad freezing situation. Still paying for that.
Then their are the 3 cats; one elderly and unwell.
It is cold here but at least I am able to lie down and not get stress from crowds.

The shelters also oddly have television.
That would stress me out way more than cold!
Also the shelters are sadly lice infested and full of sick people and sick; often unvaccinated kids.
Nope.
Would rather be cold than go there;
even if I cold.
People even live in squatter shacks in the gulf (a ravine that separates the city)
rather than go to the shelters;
who will most of the time not take in families.
At this time they are full too.
I had to and have had to cancel
doctor appointments because of the cold and ice and snow.
Had to again today because it is too snowy/icy for me to walk or crwl down the steps as I must do.
So just bundling up.
We had it worse last year and the tear before when the electric went out for 3 days or so.
Had to cook with candles and heat for soup and coffee; and trying to keep warm with bundling up.
Of course going to the bathroom is awfully brrrr!

Would be nice!
However even as late as April 19th in some years we have had over a foot of snow and tree breaking ice storms!

one year it froze the Lilac trees blossoms; and daffodils; and whilst big purple or yellow and lilac ice flowers or blobs looked pretty;
it wrecked the trees.
I hope it warms up before that. Usually February is the coldest;
but we who knows?

Maybe the cold came early, so February will be mild there.

Its hit as low as -40 where I am and that doesn't include the windshield factor.

On and off I encounter Aboriginals(inuit) from Nunavut (Arctic circle).

Believe it or not they where still wearing shorts up until October - November.

Some of them actually said ts way colder here then up in the extreme North because its moist cold air here instead of dry cold air.

The others pride themselves on taking the cold.

Oh my! Way too cold for me! The coldest it gets here is a rare -20 F or -28.8889 C; without windchill.
More common is the with windchill temperatures of -7F down to -17F; or -21.6667 C to -27.2222 C.
The coldest I ever experienced was in The Blizzard of 1988 with the windchill too it got down to -50 F or -45.5556 C.
I almost died during that when my car was knocked by another into a deep ditch.
I was stranded 3 days in a school boiler room. By the time I got home my fish tanks were frozen; and snow so deep I had to dig to find my door!
Yes; the humidity makes both cold and heat feel more extreme. It would not be so bad if we had a working furnace.
Also being disabled; it really messes me up bad.
I wear shorts down to like 45 F or C 7.22222 outside. I have even swam at about that.
I hate it when we get 3 to 4 feet of snow.

I hate when my water bottle freezes on the bedroom floor.
Or the toilet has ice on top of the water.
