Does it change sex? How effective is it? I don’t have any friends who have an intrauterine device 😔

I had one before for many years.
Doesn’t change sex . Does effect menstrual cramps in the beginning until your body adjusts maybe heavier flow and more cramping.

I never got pregnant while I had one. Got pregnant right away once it was removed though 😬

Did it hurt getting it inserted? Did it affect consecutive vaginal orgasms? Did you risk allowing a guy to ejaculate before trying for a baby?

Aww congratulations!! Was the intercourse timed 1-3 days pre-ovulation?

Hi Leo Cancer 🙏

I chose the sad smiley for my answer because I had some experiences with an IUD long ago, which made me sad.

Before I get to the main points I would like to advice every woman, to first check out if she is even slightly allergic against copper.
Back then I wasn't, now I am, I would get an anaphylactic shock in the worst case. If not, my allergy would at least get worse, other allergies would develop and my immune system would be in a constant battle, like during an illness.

It did hurt a bit for a moment during insertion and removal, but bearable.
Didn't influence orgasms.

My main concerns against the IUD :

I felt like I had a minor but chronical infection in that whole area.
Maybe it was not really the case, but it felt very unpleasant and I my lower abdomen was always a little bit swollen.

My boyfriend back then could feel the nylon strings (to pull the IUD back out again one day) sticking out of the uterus and they caused small injuries with a bit of bleeding of the cervix sometimes during/after intercourse.

Last but certainly not least point :

Each month I got pregnant for a short time, until the fertilized eggcell was in the middle of trying to grow into the soft lining of my motherly womb and finally got prevented to proceed by the object in there.

Each month I could sense souls, who already went through the holy process of fertilisation.
And I had slight, beginning pregnancy symptoms.

I am not sure if these souls knew already before, that they would not be able to stay long, but I felt compassion and sadness, so I let the doctor remove it again.

Hi Leo Cancer,

I had one for 4 months and it was effective the whole time.

I got it because my roommate at the time had had one for about 3 years and she had no issues with it whatsoever. Also, I didn’t want to deal with hormones from other forms of birth control.

My experience with it, however, was very different.
It was extremely painful going in... mostly because it took the nurse 3 tries to get it in, so probably just a bad nurse. But otherwise it hurt literally all the time. There was hardly a time in the month that I didn’t have cramping and forget during my period... the pain was hell. Ibuprofen wasn’t even enough. I ended up getting it removed because it just wasn’t worth it.

Since then I’ve had mixed reviews from people. I’ve also heard that copper poisoning can happen... So I would say it’s risky but works really well for some people.
