The car also contained a mannequin named Starman and had the dashboard message "DON'T PANIC!" from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
The launch: The song was part of the payload for the first test flight of the Falcon Heavy rocket in February 2018.
The car's occupant: A mannequin, dressed in a spacesuit and named "Starman" (a nod to another Bowie song), was placed in the driver's seat.
The soundtrack: "Space Oddity" was the main soundtrack to the car's journey, playing on repeat as the car was sent on an orbit around the sun and Mars. Ode to Douglas Adams below♥️👍🏼♥️
