Create-your-own NYC Air Force One flyover photo ... we did

Memo to the White House: Not only was flying a Presidential jet for a photo-op Monday over downtown Manhattan in bad taste – it was unnecessary
.
Anyone in the White House ever hear of Photoshop?
You'd think the administration would've been tech-savvy enough to realize the merits of the computer software program – what with its constant Internet spin doctoring and the President's notorious BlackBerry infatuation.
The cost of flying one of Obama's official planes – a pimped-out Boeing 747 – along with an F-16 jet over the city cost upwards of $300,000 in taxpayer dollars.
In comparison, the latest deluxe version of Adobe Photoshop "CS4 Extended" costs $999.

So the White House wanted shots of the presidential plane with the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and Ground Zero? With some stock images, few minutes and a couple of clicks of a mouse, a White House staffer could've placed the jet in front of just about any New York landmark.
We should know. We did just that. [Ahem, see photos to the right.]

But we can't be the only ones with a flair for Photoshopping. Think you can do better? Be our guest.
Here's how:

1: Copy the Air Force one photo provided at the top of this story.
2: Graft it onto your favorite family snapshot or New York City photo.
3: Upload it directly to our Web site by clicking HERE. Choose the category: Photoshop planes.
And finally, check back tomorrow to see the results.
If you don't have access to Photoshop, click HERE to use free Web-based software provided by Aviary.com to create your photo.

Yeah, that one tops the list of stupid things to do while in NYC. Have they released the memo of which geniuses were actually on board?

I wondered what the price tag was.
One of the stupidest stunts ever
I was watching one *news* show, and they played resident NYC video recordings...the sounds coming out of the mouths of the people were animal like...with fear. When I heard that my skin crawled. How must it have felt for those to relive such a horrific experience? And how could anyone not surmise beforehand what the possible reactions might be?

yes i was having the same thought? why couldn't they have used a small fraction of the money to superimpose the plane on whatever landmark they want? surely lucas or someone else would even do it for the kudos?

It was an act of (another) terrorism.

The price tag for this joyride on Air Force One was $329,000 and that's not counting the cost to NY City for all the 911 calls and whatever else including the time lost to businesses when their employees fled out of high rise buildings.

Photoshop would definitely have been the way to go.

We still don't have a reasonable explanation as to what these photos/film footages are to be used for.
