What a class act G. Gordon Liddy is.
So sayeth G. Gordon Liddy:

"Let’s hope that the key conferences aren’t when she’s menstruating or something, or just before she’s going to menstruate. That would really be bad. Lord knows what we would get then."

just goes to show how realistic the current uproar about sotomayor really is. if this woman's cycle was a problem then so is every other woman's performance sabotaged. not to mention that she is 54 and probably not going through it much anymore...

let's go back to the 19th century, good old victorian values and women "retiring" during their "unclean" days so to spare the world their extremisms!!

oh and before "chic ladies" had the nerve to sit on the federal bench.

though i know this does not represent the republican party someone there might want to muzzle these idiots before they bury the whole party.

it has been suggested by her detractors that she might be too "empathetic" to qualify for a jury. someone seems to forget that we are entitled to a jury of our peers, i.e. people who can understand where we come from...

Sotomayor would be dismissed from jury service for answering one simple question.

"Do you believe this case should be decided on the facts and the law".

Sotomayor:
No, this case should be decided on empathy for racial minorities and gender empathy.

Or, Sotomayer could lie her way onto a jury by saying "yes".

well i can't blame your judgment on menstruation. what IS the problem?

do you honestly think white men don't have their decisions coloured by their experience? then you are proving her point all by your lonesome. EVERYONE judges by their experience. or in some cases by what they have been told.

What I think is that judges should live up to their legal obligations to judge cases before them based on the facts and proper application of the law...and not one damned thing else.

Let me go further. Any federal judge who ignores the law or makes up law in their courtroom or who substitutes their opinions, biases or ideology for the law should be immediately impeached by the House of Representatives, convicted by the Senate and thrown out of the federal courts...and I don't give a flying flip who nominated that judge or those judges.

Federal judges serve "During good behavior" and upon no other basis.

So now, we have THE ONE, THE MESSIAH pushing this nonimation. We have THE MESSIAH'S press agent threatening those who oppose Sotomayor; in the White House press room..."be very careful what you say" says Gibbs.

Hey, perhaps this dip stick hasn't heard of the 1st Amendment or perhaps this is just a logical extension of O'Bomber's thuggary which is on display all over the Executive Branch.

But, O'Bomber had a very different viewpoint when he was a Senator and opposed Samual Alito.

"As a senator, Obama supported a failed attempt by Democrats to stall President George W. Bush's nomination of Samuel Alito to the high court." http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5iVIF9OnrgW2kTS53D8szV4l9GLewD98GGCBO0

But, it was more than just an attempt to stall Alito. It was a threatened filibuster to kill Alito's nomination.

So, up O'Bomber's gazoo.

actually he said he thought it was "exceedingly important for ANYONE INVOLVED in this debate to be careful about how they expressed themselves". because there has been a lot of irresponsible shiit slinging going on, from out-of-context quotes (and misquotes!) to worries about a 54 year old woman being on her period!!(which sounds like the guy who dismisses a woman's anger or criticism by saying "she's on the rag")

and because if SHE had expressed herself more carefully in trying to explain how her background influenced her perspective there would be that much less ammunition for the slingers.

however no one threatened anyone. another lie from the spinmeisters. here's the video and i wouldn't call this a threat or even an irritated suggestion: http://www.politico.com/blogs/joshgerstein/0509/Gibbs_Sotomayor_crit ics_should_be_exceedingly_careful.html

She said what she said and what she said was very clear. It's also very clear no one with that perspective of the job of judges or with those kinds of twisted identity political views should ever have the power of a judge.

I've seen nothing suggesting false accusations are being made against Sotomayor. Have you? If so, how about posting those lies about Sotomayor right here...with attribution.

In the mean time, Gibbs and O'Bomber can take their attempts to stifle free speech and stuff them.

since it appears you can't read -- maybe that is your combust mercury or the opposition of our current neptunian conjunction to your sun (and squaring your saturn) - i see no point in repeating any of the clarifications i have already made.

I hardly think having empathy as a human being and being able to base decisions on facts and law are two separate issues. It's 2 sides to the same coin, as far as I'm concerned.

A judge is meant to hear all sides and make a judgment on the grounds of not only law and facts, but also a degree of wisdom and understanding. Else we'd have computers determining who is guilty and who is not based on facts alone.
There is a reason why human judges aren't obsolete, you know .

And that remark about menstruation is pretty tacky.

Sotomayor doesn't make judicial decisions based on the law. She does make law and policy from her courts in contravention of the legislative law and based on her racial and gender biases.

That's not the separation of ones personal biases from rulings on the legislative intent of the laws...and the Constitution.
