someone sent me this today. i am not a member of the org nor do i suggest joining however this particular issue is real enough and SOMEbody needs to stand up for these guys...

You won’t believe this. BP blocked workers cleaning up the oil disaster in the Gulf from wearing protective respirators.

Keith Olbermann reports that workers are breathing in toxic fumes day after day -- and some have already landed in the hospital with nausea, chest pains, and headaches. Yet BP seems more worried about controlling what images the public sees than about the health of workers.

Shame on them. Watch Keith Olbermann’s report on this issue -- then join us, Robert F. Kennedy Jr, and others in demanding action from the White House.

Today, we’re launching a huge coalition of local and national activists -- including Gulf fishermen, environmentalists, members of Congress like Alan Grayson, and Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Together, we're saying that President Obama must stop BP from denying workers the protective gear they need. Obama says “the federal government has been in charge” of the clean-up efforts. Now's his chance to prove it.

Our new coalition is already driving big headlines. But to really get President Obama's attention, we need those media reports to show that thousands of Americans heard about this cause and joined it.

Can you add your name?

(Then, please forward this email to others.)

Thanks for being a bold progressive,

-- Adam Green, Stephanie Taylor, Julia Rosen, Forrest Brown, and the rest of the PCCC team

BP is the one who's saying cleanup workers don't need respriators? Is that your tale katatonic. BP is not in any position, legally or otherwise to made decisions about employee safety. That's the job of OSHA, not BP.

How about this katatonic.

It's OSHA, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration of the Marxist Socialist Progressive O'Bomber regime which says cleanup workers don't need respirators.

OSHA says BP oil relief workers don’t need respirators
June 4, 2010

http://electrocorpairpurification.wordpress.com/2010/06/04/os ha-says-bp-oil-relief-workers-dont-need-respirators/

You continue to be genetically incapable of checking out your tripe...before you post it here.

Now katatonic, if the "bold progressives" you quoted here have a beef with the safety standards being applied for the Gulf cleanup operation; then katatonic, they should take that up with the "bold progressive" Marxist Socialist sitting in the Oval Office.

as i said jwhop i am not judging anyone or deciding who's to blame. but something needs to be done about it. as the article points out it is the fed's job to make sure this happens. and blimey it is progressives saying the govt isn't doing enough! what else did you fail to comprehend?

is OSHA an obama organization or a govt one? which has been around since before him as well as the MMS, EPA and so on..?

You posted an article here which directly blames BP for "refusing" to let cleanup workers wear respirators.

The article is a lie, plain and simple. Lies are the stock in trade of "Progressives", the source of the article you posted.

well i heard workers were asked by BP not to wear the things..on the other hand they ARE taking it to the president that this is wrong so what is your beef? and wasn't it you who posted an article about the bilderberg group recently and then denied agreeing with it? i am beginning to think, jwhop, that you just disagree with me because you made up your mind months ago that i was a leftist because i take issue with your hyperbolic sloganeering style of minimizing the issues to character assaults and party politics.

but god forbid anyone should try to directly communicate with the people in power to right wrongs. much better to complain about it and put someone else in power...even if that means bringing the whole country down, right?

My beef is with air head Socialist Progressives lying for political gain. Part of that beef is that those lying Socialist Progressives are anti-civilization loons having already dismissed any feasible plan to supply the energy needs of the United States.

Pack these leftist loons up, transport them to a far away island and let them live the 12th Century existence they seem to crave.

Listen katatonic; the leftist loon warming the chair in the Oval Office was YOUR pick for Prez...along with loony-tunes dopes from every fringe political group in America.

This leftist loon IS the power structure in the US and this leftist loon is destroying everything he touches.

So katatonic, when you're talking about the "people in power" you wish to protest to; you're talking about O'Bomber and the rest of the loony-tunes Socialists in Congress.

My problem...at least THIS problem is not with OSHA.

My problem with the thrust of this tread as started by katatonic are the lies contained in the article posted.

The leftist loon progressives won't blame O'Bomber or anyone in O'Bomber's administration, simply because he's one of them.

So instead, they lie about BP.

actually they ARE blaming him which is why they are circulating the petition. and i very much doubt that BP is blameless either. there were workers claiming they had unwittingly signed waivers given them by BP which included instructions not to wear the respiratory gear.

they are blaming him for not being left enough, as i've been saying for months now. somehow that doesn't seem to compute.

in richmond, oaklands poor sister city, the locals have given up expecting anything from the authorities. they have started growing community gardens to get people involved with each other on a basic level and tackle violence in the streets themselves. quite apart from the money savings on good food, this seems to me a great way to go. forgeddaboutem, stop fighting amongst ourselves and start cooperating with our neighbours to make our micro-worlds better places, instead of trying to change the corrupt upper echelons of society? could work if enough people get it...
