yes but before MY pocketbook vote registers hundreds of thousands of people who don't pay attention to a)labels b)news, and other ways of KNOWING what you're eating, will have bought and eaten that GE salmon. to what cost to the population? no one knows yet. and in fact if in 5 years no one becomes obviously ILL from eating them it may be a generation o r two before the damage is discovered. never mind that one of the apparent drawbacks of some GMOS is injury to the reproductive capabilities of the mammals who have been tested.so...after the free market has decimated the population enough and someone notices it might be due to all the UNLABELLED GMOs in our food supply...people may stop buying the stuff. of course if by then EVERYTHING is modified, who is going to STOP EATING UNTIL THE PROBLEM IS RECTIFIED? as in the case of asbestos, where mesothelioma surfaces about 4 decades later, this means a criminal amount of suffering and premature death for people who had no way of knowing what was happening to them. yes the free market will sure take care of it...when there is no one left to BUY the stuff it will become a no-goer. but we don't need any regulations on business...right? Who says there are unlabeled GMO food products in the American food supply katatonic? What is the proof there is?Who says there are unlabeled genetically modified Salmon in American markets? What is the proof there is? I'd be more concerned about unlabeled cloned beef.

if you buy anything that has corn or corn byproducts, soy or soy byproducts in them, just for two examples, there is an 80% chance they are GMOs. no labelling is necessary. while you can find labelling that says NON GMO, the grapevine has it that codex, the european version of the FDA, is working to ban those. in fact WHOLEFOODS has joined the campaign against unlabelled GMOS precisely because it is so hard to tell.drink coke? or corn-based whiskey for that matter? eat corn or soy-fed meat? do you even know what your meat ate? irradiated foods are not necessarily labelled either, as there is NO REGULATION that insists they be. so unless you know the farmer/producer or grow your own i doubt you know what you are eating at all times. then there is the cross-fertilization issue for foods grown next door to GMO farms. and i would consider cloned beef to be genetically modified for sure.
