i'm putting the link to the site in this
forum - seems the most appropriate place but if Randall disagrees please move it where it belongs
http://www.amaroksociety.org/

we had the chance to have a very brief
conversation with Grace Munro, she spent
time explaining exactly what her family
does in South Asia...
they are not a religion based organization therefore they do not require "conversion" to offer assistance...

thanks, em, i've signed up. i find it ironic, though, that just this moring i was talking to my daughter about how great it would be to be able to homeschool her kids...our schools may teach reading and writing, but by the time the kids get to about 7 or 8 they are so loaded down with paperwork (much of it repetition) and confined so many hours a day that their physical and emotional and CREATIVE sides are stifled. at this point many shut down and lose all interest in school, though when you watch a young child heading for kindergarten or 1st grade they are overflowing with enthusiasm.

my grandson isn't yet 8 and the school supports denying recess time (20 minutes to stretch their legs and rest their minds twice a day) as a consequence for being fidgety(or worse) in class...and sends him home with 6 or 7 pages of homework (much of which is a direct duplicate of what he spent hours doing in school already) AND 50 pages of a book to read EVERY DAY.

i suspect these asian kids will be getting a break that our own kids are FORCED to suffer a surplus of...i am going to register as a private school again just in case we need some paper work!

it is ironic ... and to be honest, a part of me rebels against teaching them our dependancies on "education"
however, such is the world we live in that if one lacks basic
" readin', 'ritin' and arithmetic " their choices are null and void... sigh

thank you for checking out the site though
