http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20101008/ap_on_an/us_jobs___politics_analysis_2 Good article. I'm NOT going to argue that Republicans would do better. I am going to argue that what the Democrats have been doing is not, has not been, and will not work. The horse is long dead; please stop beating it. We need real solutions, not more empty talk and hopeless theories. As people sit by, theorizing about the best policies and long term recovery, etc. people are literally jobless or homeless or going hungry or doing without essential needs. This is not a partisan issue, and making it so is infantile. Poverty, old or new, is never acceptable. /rant off IP: Logged |

There's a lot of people who blame Republicans for the economic mess we're in.When Republicans controlled the Congress, they let the whining, screeching, shrieking demoscats moan about the good work Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were doing when in fact, it was those two government created entities which kicked off the mortgage defaults which almost brought down the financial system. Demoscats insisted those who could not afford home ownership be given mortgage loans and another demoscat organization..ACORN wrote many of those loans. Republicans could have and should have ignored the blithering, blathering and bloviating members of congress like Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Maxine Waters and the host of leftist morons who didn't want Freddie and Fannie reined in...and they should have placed financial controls on those creations of congress. Demoscats have been in control of Congress since January 2007. All spending bills originate in the House of Representatives and must pass both Houses of Congress. Since January 2007, that means the demoscat majority in Congress. Notice: When demoscats took over the majority in both houses of congress in January 2007 the unemployment rate was 4.6% Look how that number has climbed under the demoscat majority and for the last 2 years with O'Bomber in the White House. They don't have a clue. Their every action has raised unemployment. But, that's what Socialist governance always does; destroys the economy where ever they get control. No one here can say they weren't warned. Everyone was warned, over and over and over about O'Bomber and his band of comrades in the Congress of the United States. IP: Logged |

Perhaps it's escaped O'Bomber's notice that more Americans are on Food stamps than at any time in history.Perhaps it's escaped O'Bomber's notice that more than 3 million jobs have been lost since he rammed his so called "Stimulus Bill" through the Socialist congress. Perhaps it's escaped O'Bomber's notice that unemployment has been above 9% for the longest continuous time since the Great Depression. O'Bomber's reaction to the crashed economy is to raise taxes, raise business regulation, nationalize the private sector, pass jobs killing legislation like the Financial Regulations Bill, O'BomberCare, Tax and Cap and Card Check. All of these bills make Americans want to throw up. Americans know none of these disasters will produce jobs in the private economy where stable jobs are produced in the United States. Americans now know O'Bomber is an incompetent Marxist twit and long for the days of the Bush administration where even in the grip of recession, unemployment never topped 7.4% and that in December 2008; the last month of the Bush administration. Today, after the latest unemployment numbers are out, unemployment stands at 9.6% and the real unemployment number U6 exceeds 17% of the workforce. Americans also know members of the O'Bomber economic team lied to them to get the so called "Stimulus Bill" passed. They were told the lie that unemployment would not exceed 8%....IF...the so called "Stimulus Bill" was passed. Well, now those so called expert economists have deserted the sinking "Good Ship O'Bomber" along with a lot of other theorists who have no real job experience and have never run anything in their lives. It will be interesting to see which Marxist rabbit O'Bomber pulls out of his hat to give him advice on the US economy. IP: Logged |

thanks for keeping it nonpartisan, jwhop, as eleanore suggested. or is that why you hijacked her thread and gave it a new name?it's not like the republicans haven;t been taxing the poor and paying the rich for decades before the crash. it's not like both sides haven;t sold us down the river. and it's not like the tea party is anything but a trojan horse for the very richest and the republicans to attempt to undermine the govt so it can't do anything the way it should be done. but nevermind. jobs report or no, on the ground, where i am, things are easing up, partly because some people have got fed up living off their savings and gone back to work, partly because the state is using the money from the stimulus to get some infrastructure (and the jobs connected to it) up to date, and partly because after the shock of not having as much as before, people are realizing it is possible to have fun and spend money without acting like croesus! "We won't see under 6 percent for five years," David Wyss, chief economist at Standard & Poor's in New York, said Friday after the Labor Department reported that 95,000 more jobs were lost in September and the unemployment rate held at 9.6 percent. "It's going to be a slow recovery"dont you just love how knowledgeable and certain he is that nothing is going to improve? well, as i've said before, many of those jobs losses are due to automation. warren buffet admits that he is getting richer without even trying. and retail sales are up month after month... now with foreclosures halted due to disclosure of another negligent/fraudulent jump at the chance to dispossess people and cash in on their misfortune, it is not going to improve tomorrow but the housing loss will improve too. we are getting there. i wonder who really thought that a crash like we had (and its continually unveiled layers on layers of greedy actions by those with the money) was going to be over just because a new president came in? especially with a sizeable portion of the country actively removing their money from circulation at a time when it could have made a big difference? but we wouldn't want the wrong people to look like they were succeeding, so screw everyone else, right? no eleanore, when one party uses all its energy to undermine another you get a stalemate so i'm afraid that the partisan aspect comes into play no matter how you look at it... after all, perhaps it WOULD be more effective to give the richest among us more money and gut the foodstamp system completely, so those lazy people working 60 hours aweek at minimum wage can eat garbage from mcmansion street.in fact let's get rid of minimum wage and relieve the work force of their phoney pride altogether! that'll make more jobs!! facts are not partisan. but it's hard to interpret them without bias, isn't it jwhop? i'm not defending anyone, just pointing out that neither side has done a great job here; and that it is infantile to expect a mess like this to be cleaned up in a minute.. yes great image, hmm, watermelon, fried chicken, ribs, koolaid and a mule...and complete with a grinning pickaninny, huh? but WTH! they left out the corn on the cob and the collard greens!!! i will give HD the benefit of the doubt since being english he MAY not understand the racism all over it. The first post was partisan. You just missed it.Kat's right, though. This wasn't ever going to be fixed quickly by the government, unless the Government was actually Socialist and comandeered all industry. Then it could actually give people jobs. But we all know it's not, and never will be. IP: Logged |

It's not hard for me "to interpret" facts katatonic.Facts need no interpretation whatsoever. They are simply FACTS and the only thing "facts" need....are to be stated. IP: Logged |

well sweetie the FACT is that the cartoon HD posted is a perfect expose of the attitude of yer tea baggers...they can say they aren't racially motivated but it's all over that little joke statement. and "facts" can be read to prove both sides as anyone whose head is not in the sand can see for themselves. i haven't actually seen a lot of facts coming from your court in any case! just INTERPRETATIONS of facts slanted to "prove" your OPINIONS. Why is the cartoon racist katatonic?Because it shows O'Bomber as being black? Because it shows a slice of watermelon? Because it shows a pitcher of Kool-Aid? Because it shows a bucket of fired chicken? Because it slows a slab of ribs? Hey, listen up katatonic. I'm not black but I like ribs, like watermelon, like fried chicken and used to drink Kool-Aid. no because it shows ALL those things in juxtaposition that gives a strong message..yes a lot of people like those foods. including myself. but no matter how much you deny the implications, they are there on the cartoon for a very definite reason...a lot of people like spaghetti and beef stroganoff too but they aren't there are they? yes i know the dems' symbol is a donkey, and that other people eat those things, but they are ASSOCIATED with the KIND OF PEOPLE WHO USE FOODSTAMPS, ie the working and unworking poor who are overwhelmingly black. sorry, but this is a racist message. just like the fact that obama has a brown face was justification for saying he wasn't even a proper american, and indeed is PROBABLY MUSLIM. and numerous other excuses for saying "he's not one of us" to those who fear....
