http://abcnews.go.com/Business/martin-erzinger-morgan-stanley-hit-run-controversy/story?id=12088074&page=2

the VICTIM'S lawyers decided against going for the felony charges this case demanded. hit and run, leaving the victim by the side of the road, and then calling for a tow and repair to his car but claiming he didn't
"realize" he had hit the guy?

but a felony on his record might interfere with his job prospects and therefore his ability to pay...isn't this just the sort of person who probably has enough funds to make restitution even if he lost his "job" tomorrow?

thoughts? the victim would like the felony charges brought...money or no money. the lawyers are assuming he is going to need a LOT of money to take care of himself for the rest of his life (he is in his 30s)...

Dropping the felony charges does more good for the defendant, than for the victim.

The defendant could simply not pay, regardless.

I think it's disgusting that they dropped the felony charges, especially considering it was a hit and run.

It's always a possibility that this guy has connections, too. And, that's also a reason that the charges were dropped?

maybe this is why they dropped the charges - the man is obviously mentally deficient and unable to stand trial

How sad for the person who was hit by the car.
