Found out this morning, that all "non-essential" employees will be without pay until this resolves.

I am beside myself at the moment.

It's bad enough that we try to live, a family of 6, on his salary. Usually, we just ahve enough to make it from paycheck to paycheck.

I have no idea what we will do if this does indeed happen.

But Congress and the President will all be paid.

WTF? How is this equitable. They're non essential too.

Please my fellow peeps, send prayers or whatever else you think of.

I'm going to call my senators, and representatives today...all of them, not that I have much faith in it actually doing anything...

WHY CAN'T YOU PEOPLE LEARN TO PLAY NICELY IN THE SANDBOX TOGETHER FFS!!! IT IS REALLY NOT THAT HARD!

Give it a shot!

You never can tell what will move a politician to action AD.

I'll bet no government employee will lose a paycheck or any part thereof if the government shuts down.

no according to the head of this seciton of the country of the USDA, the last time this happened, during the Clinton administration, they all got back pay...after the budget was passed.

That does not help the fact that right now we have $100 in our checking account.

I just finished being on the phone for the last hour and a half, calling the DC offices of my legislators, and giving them an earful.

And some who aren't mine.

Apparently there are a few who have drafted legislation to state that congress should not draw pay during a furlough. This has passed the Senate, but not the House.

One wonderful thing that has come of this, is our eldest, who will be 12 in June, is drafting an email and is planning on contacting not only Iowa's representatives, but the President, Vice President, their wives, and also the leadership of the House and Senate of the budget commitee's (argh I can't spell) but also the leadership of the House and Senate.

I AM SO PROUD!!!!

Ahhh Abs honey I feel for you.

many, many people are in similar situations.
Myself included, as IRS checks will be in the mix as well.
This game is heinous, and to top it off now amendments are being tacked on [abortion and others] in order to slip other parts of the 'agenda' through while they have a chance. It suxs big time.

Baggers want to shut government down period, they are beyond stupid.

I am praying to all the goddess's and I don't pray.

Abs... I feel your pain. The Military had their paychecks (called LES) posted with only one week of pay. I would have received nothing for my pay. Thank God we saved enough that we could have lived for 4 months. I hate how they held the Military hostage, especially those deployed, just to make a point.

What is worse is that Obomber took credit. That ahole has done nothing for this country with the exception of taking vacations.

It boggles my mind how, during a time of economic desparity we have the Commander in Chief (in charge of the Military) taking vacations when we are now fighting 3 wars and he fails to stand up for the troops.

Is "President vacation" what FOXY News is calling Obama? Just surmising here.

They really don't want to go there, too many people remember that Bush II holds that record. And it will be a tough record to beat without physical impairment and Doctors orders.

Does FOX news remember where Bush II was when Katrina hit? Just one example. Do we really want to go into how long it took Bush II to make landfall himself to the great state of Louisiana?

FACT:

President George W Bush was on vacation 33% of the time while acting President- one third of the time- that he was Commander and Chief.

*edit and Obama has done more for vets than any president in over 25 years. He also saw to it that the 'black out' for the return of dead soldiers was lifted. He has saluted the bodies of dead soldiers return to U.S. soil at 3:00 a.m. at Dover AFB
I'd say Obama is very respectful.

There should NEVER EVER be any time EVER that any military personnel or their family go without pay. That's a slap in the face. These people sacrifice enough, without having to worry about if they can pay the rent or put food on the table for the family.

I know I don't always agree with everything that the military has to do, or why, though I would never wish for any of them to want.
