Hoax Shot Down: Democrats’ Global Warming Junk Science Bill Rejected by Republicans in Congress
Posted By Vicki McClure Davidson on April 8, 2011

Climate change is a natural cycle of nature here on Earth — has been since the dawn of time, all by itself, without human intervention. But that hasn’t stopped Democrats from pushing for government control of Americans’ pocketbooks and their very lives by claiming, with their spurious junk science, that mankind is causing any significant change in the climate. When it’s hot, it’s “proof” of global warming. When it’s cold — record-breaking, mini ice age cold — again, it’s “proof” of global warming. The progressives just won’t give up on their precious AGW sham, no matter how nonsensical and lacking in science are their claims.

Some sanity has prevailed in Congress — while Democrats in the Senate passed Rep. Harry Waxman’s crippling bill, the House did not.

From The Hill, Amendment that says climate change is occurring fails in House:

The House rejected a Democratic amendment Wednesday that would have put the chamber on record backing the widely held scientific view that global warming is occurring and humans are a major cause.

Lawmakers voted 184-240 against Rep. Henry Waxman’s (D-Calif.) amendment to a GOP-led bill that would strip the Environmental Protection Agency’s power to regulate greenhouse gases.

The amendment from Waxman — the top Democrat on the Energy and Commerce Committee — reflects Democratic efforts to cast the bill as an outrageous trampling of scientific consensus.

From NY Times, House Votes to Bar E.P.A. From Regulating Industrial Emissions:

The House voted 255 to 172 on Thursday to halt the Obama administration’s program to regulate industrial air emissions linked to climate change, delivering a rebuke to a central tenet of the president’s energy and environmental policy.

Nineteen Democrats joined in approving a bill that, were it to become law, would bar the Environmental Protection Agency from acting to limit emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases that the agency has declared a threat to human health and the environment.

The measure would also nullify a 2007 Supreme Court ruling that gave the agency the authority to issue regulations to curb those emissions.

Thursday’s vote was in sharp contrast to action two years ago, when a Democratic-controlled House passed a comprehensive climate change and energy bill that would have created a nationwide trading system to rein in carbon dioxide emissions. That legislation died last year in the Senate.

The IPCC, which is a political organization--not a scientific one, was formed for only two reasons: 1. To make its founders and participants wealthy. And 2. To redistribute wealth from the US and other large nations to smaller nations. The US needs to opt out of this UN scam completely. I gave this topic its own string, because I want to post info from Democrats who have joined the other side.

-55 degress of global warming in Alaska!

Alaskan Grit Exercised Amidst “Global Warming”!
Sarah Palin
January 31, 2012

A friend emailed me this notice from her local Alaskan school today. As the school notice makes clear: anything above -55 degrees below zero is warm enough for our Alaskan young’uns! Global warming? What global warming?

I just had to share this with all those who are enjoying the balmy 65 degree (above zero) weather in the Beltway today and the 70+ degree weather our Florida voters are enjoying!

And here’s a photo of my nephew doing his chores in -20 degrees. Last Frontier indeed.

Whoops indeed!

Whoops! No Global Warming For the Last 15 Years
Science is all about questioning theories John Hayward
01/30/2012

Opponents of the global warming cult have often been confronted with a little presto-chango logical fallacy. When the dearth of evidence that human activity contributes to any sort of climate change became painfully inconvenient, the cult began deliberately conflating “man-made” or “anthropogenic” warming with temperature fluctuations that might be entirely natural phenomena.

This allowed the fanatics to posture as reasonable people of science, while dismissing those who advanced reasonable questions as fanatics. If you agreed that the globe might be warming, you were automatically signed on to the entirely different belief that human activity was causing it. Various studies purporting to show increases in temperature were cited, and magically transformed into “proof” that the economy-destroying, power-centralizing agenda of the Church of Global Warming must be adopted immediately. Greenhouse gases are killing the Earth! The science is settled!

This was always about power and money, not science. Here’s a little data crunching from one of the great cathedrals of global warming alarmism, the University of East Anglia Climatic Research Unit – which was also the source of the “Climagate” emails that revealed much of the global warming movement was based on deliberate fraud. As reported by the UK Daily Mail:

The supposed ‘consensus’ on man-made global warming is facing an inconvenient challenge after the release of new temperature data showing the planet has not warmed for the past 15 years.

The figures suggest that we could even be heading for a mini ice age to rival the 70-year temperature drop that saw frost fairs held on the Thames in the 17th Century.

Based on readings from more than 30,000 measuring stations, the data was issued last week without fanfare by the Met Office and the University of East Anglia Climatic Research Unit. It confirms that the rising trend in world temperatures ended in 1997.
(Emphases mine.) “Released without fanfare,” eh? That’s funny, because this has to be one of the most important stories in modern history. The entire global warming movement just went up in smoke. All of the shrieking hysteria about greenhouse gases, which still drives multi-billion dollar command economics programs in the United States has just been revealed as a pile of anti-scientific garbage.

Meanwhile, leading climate scientists yesterday told The Mail on Sunday that, after emitting unusually high levels of energy throughout the 20th Century, the sun is now heading towards a ‘grand minimum’ in its output, threatening cold summers, bitter winters and a shortening of the season available for growing food.

Solar output goes through 11-year cycles, with high numbers of sunspots seen at their peak.

We are now at what should be the peak of what scientists call ‘Cycle 24’ – which is why last week’s solar storm resulted in sightings of the aurora borealis further south than usual. But sunspot numbers are running at less than half those seen during cycle peaks in the 20th Century.

So the primary factor driving “climate change” is not people running their air conditioners and driving around in cars, but rather… the Sun. Were your kids told any of this when their public-school teachers were busy indoctrinating them in Green dogma about man-made global warming? Was it ever even suggested that maybe human activity had far less to do with global temperature changes than solar activity?

The modern “climate change” movement began with warnings of global cooling, and the threat of an impending Ice Age, back in the Seventies. This was changed for purely political reasons, because it obviously wasn’t something that could be blamed on human activity. But car engines are hot, and hot gas comes out of their mufflers, so maybe that gas is forming into toxic clouds in the upper atmosphere, and turning the Earth into an oven! Factory smokestacks even look kind of like ovens, don’t they? We can scare people into giving up their economic liberty with that!

A Duke University climatologist quoted by the Daily Mail noted “if temperatures continue to stay flat or start to cool again, the divergence between the models and recorded data will eventually become so great that the whole scientific community will question the current theories.” Questioning theories? Now that sounds like science! Unfortunately for the cultists, it’s not very helpful for getting cap-and-trade legislation passed, or selling “carbon credits.”

Other stories hinting at this outcome have popped up over the past few years, but this one is definitive… and utterly devastating to the official religion of the U.S. government. Think of all the millions charlatans like Al Gore have raked in from gullible suckers over the years. “An inconvenient truth,” indeed. The birth of global warming was heralded by big-budget Hollywood movies and hysterical political campaigns. Its final demise occurred without fanfare.

My friend manages a movie theatre. You should hear the complaints about Happy Feet 2. Lots of people hate that it crams global warming down their childrens' throats...even the ones who believe in it.

unfortunately there is still the problem of how the oil, gas and coal (and pharma and farming chemicals, plastics, yadayada) industries poison the earth we depend on for sustenance. texas' aquifer is losing volume at an alarming rate due to drought, never mind the temperature. fracking is poisonous and progressively more linked to earthquake activity...and so it goes.

something's gotta change.

Yeah, something is going to change. In fact several things are going to change when O'Bomber gets thrown out of the Oval Office.

A bunch of faux scientists are going to get canned.

A bunch of EPA clowns are going to get canned.

America's energy resources are going to get developed.

The price of crude oil and gasoline are going to plummet.

Pollution from "fracking" is a phony issue dreamed up by leftist Loony-Tunes attempting to stop energy production in the United States.

yes it's all lies made up by leftists, of COURSE! what else could you say? tell me, jwhop, are native americans leftists? or something else?

and fukishima didn't happen either, did it? perhaps i am unique in remembering that little party, because my grandson was born that day?

you give so much credit to "leftists" i am getting the feeling that you really admire them! are you aware that most people in the world are NEITHER left nor right but something else altogether???

perhaps you should move to china where they don't have all these pesky do-gooders protecting the environment or workers or consumers!

"and fukishima didn't happen either, did it? perhaps i am unique in remembering that little party"...katatonic

Are you even remotely capable of sticking to the subject katatonic?

Are you now blaming the earthquake which destroyed Fukushima on fracking? If so, this is a new low for you.

You buy into every line of hokum which feeds into your personal paranoia and ignore every proof..scientific and otherwise which disproves the bs you read on the Loony-Tunes sites you visit.

bad night, was it, bear head?

i was referring to your tendency to pretend that everything dangerous to the environment is a commie plot, not to fracking causing fukishima.

i don't visit a lot of sites, unlike some here. however a visit to my local frog habitat with grandson made it plain that pollution is everywhere. this protected spot was covered in soap scum if not worse. just an everyday example of how much dirty water, air and earth we live among everywhere...

It's not I who consider everything a danger to the environment katatonic.

That's you...and your little coven of leftists who say..let's all go back to the mid-nineteenth century existences. The anti-civilization crowd.

Here's what's funny about this. If every one one of you were given enough vegetable seed to plant 20 acres, a mule, harnesses a plow, saws, hammers, nails, axes, pigs, chickens, cows, churns and everything else necessary to sustain you; I doubt 1% of you would survive after 2 years.

Fracking hysteria by the left is just another example of an invented catastrophe to stop the use of fossil energy production.

But, what's the left to do? Their Man Made Global Warming religion fell flat on it's face.

One can only wonder what invented catastrophe leftists will pull out of their bag of frauds when "Fracking" falls flat on it's face too.

personally i have been accused of having a green thumb. i will gladly take the 20 acres thanks very much; but i am not interested in returning to the past at all. that would be you, who insist on a government model that was fine when the country had one quarter of its current population and 80% of the people were directly connected to the land in some way.

it is true that all technology so far has some downside. is that a reason to pretend we can't do something about it?

you seem to think that socialism is the environment police. you should look at what the ussr and china have allowed to happen to their greatest resource, the land they sit and depend on for sustenance.

Not spam. Just because you don't care to read anything contrary to your opinion (much like the IPCC feel), doesn't mean others don't have an open mind. Bumping relevant topics is encouraged here.

I have read more than enough that's contrary to my opinion, but since my opinion is to follow the science nothing has changed. I said just yesterday that once a breakthrough comes that legitimizes your fringe opinion, then I'll revisit it. Posting all this stuff that has been rejected by the scientific community does NO GOOD for anyone.

Just FYI:

First Eight Months of 2012 Warmest on Record, U.S. Says

The first eight months of 2012 in the lower 48 U.S. states were the warmest start to any year in records dating to 1895, according to the National Climatic Data Center in Asheville, North Carolina.

The period from January through August also was the 14th driest for the region, with precipitation 1.9 inches (4.8 centimeters) below the 20.2-inch average, the center said.

June to August was the third-warmest summer on record as temperatures averaged 74.4 degrees Fahrenheit (23.6 Celsius) or 2.3 degrees warmer than the 20th-century average, according to the center. Only 2011 and 1936 had hotter summers, which meteorologists mark from June 1 to Aug. 31, the center said in a statement released today.

“The summer season was warmer-than-average for a large portion of the contiguous United States, with the exception of the Southeast and parts of the Northwest, which were near or slightly cooler than average,” the center said. “There were 16 states across the West, Plains and Upper Midwest which had summer temperatures among their 10 highest. Colorado and Wyoming each had their record-hottest summer.”

Summer heat contributed to the drought across the Midwest that damaged corn and soybean crops, sending grain prices higher for months. The heat also pushed natural gas prices up, after a mild winter depressed them, as people in the large U.S. cities turned to air conditioning to cool down.

Just one of many such recent articles stating that our most recent times are the warmest on record.

....the polar ice cap....has this year retreated further and faster than anyone expected. The previous record, set in 2007, was officially broken on 27 August when satellite images averaged over five days showed the ice then extended 4.11 million sq km, a reduction of nearly 50% compared to just 40 years ago.

Isn't that rich? Faux scientists are just shocked that the ice cap recedes in the summer. My god, who knew?

What's next? Will another faux scientist discover that glacier ice melts in the summer.

Antarctic Sea Ice Sets Another Record
Daniel Malavassi

Antarctic sea ice set another record this past week, with the most amount of ice ever recorded on day 256 of the calendar year (September 12 of this leap year). Please, nobody tell the mainstream media or they might have to retract some stories and admit they are misrepresenting scientific data.

National Public Radio (NPR) published an article on its website last month claiming, “Ten years ago, a piece of ice the size of Rhode Island disintegrated and melted in the waters off Antarctica. Two other massive ice shelves along the Antarctic Peninsula had suffered similar fates a few years before. The events became poster children for the effects of global warming. … There’s no question that unusually warm air triggered the final demise of these huge chunks of ice.”

NPR failed to mention anywhere in its article that Antarctic sea ice has been growing since satellites first began measuring the ice 33 years ago and the sea ice has been above the 33-year average throughout 2012.

Indeed, none of the mainstream media are covering this important story. A Google News search of the terms Antarctic, sea ice and record turns up not a single article on the Antarctic sea ice record. Amusingly, page after page of Google News results for Antarctic sea ice record show links to news articles breathlessly spreading fear and warning of calamity because Arctic sea ice recently set a 33-year low.

Sea ice around one pole is shrinking while sea ice around another pole is growing. This sure sounds like a global warming crisis to me.
