quote: Here is video from Salon’s Justin Elliot of protesters having a merry little tussle this morning near the New York Stock Exchange, where cops have arrested as many as 75 protesters so far, for the crime of making it slightly more difficult for Wall Street employees to get to work, the most illegal thing in America right now.Protesters converged on the Financial District in hopes of disrupting or delaying the opening bell of the stock market without luck in that particular endeavor, but the barricades and swarms of 99 percenters made “corrupt business as usual” a little tougher. And boy those employees think social justice is lame, when it is inconvenient (which is always)! The excellent OWS liveblog from the Guardian has some fun quotes from the crabby Wall Streeters: Only employees with company ID are being allowed through. Workers, already blocked from leaving the subway at their usual exits are tutting and exhaling at police officers directing them away from streets closed because of the march. There was little sympathy for the occupy movement here. “I’ve been trying to get to work for half an hour, they should throw them all in jail,” one woman said as she approached Exchange Place, where protesters had gathered and were sitting in a circle telling stories of economic hardship. A man in a suit waiting to be allowed through a police barricade told his friend: “Don’t worry they’ll all get arrested in a minute.” Groups of protesters gathered in the streets parallel to Wall street, singing and chanting behind barriers. Of course, not all of the financial types were in a massive hurry to get to work. A couple of them still had time to pull out their angry signs for some teevee cameras, to make an important point: Yes, go get one of those jobs, that don’t exist! (Although, it bears repeating that 70% of OWS protesters have employment, compared to 56% of Tea Party idjits.) But anyway, forget these sad-faced slobs. Protesters are regrouping at Zuccotti Park despite the barricades, hooray!

That's right! Get a job! Occupy a desk! But first, take a bath! The idea that there are some in American society who believe it's OK to block streets, block businesses and prevent people from going about their lawful business...like getting to work is utterly repugnant to everything America stands for. Your so called "rights" end at the point they infringe on mine. IP: Logged |

To suggest that these nicely suited Wall St thugs are conducting "lawful business" is positively hilarious. Jwhop, why "so-called rights?" Also, how are the protestors infringing on your rights? You seem a different man than the one I remember, so I'd like to ask what you now believe "America stands for." IP: Logged |

The shocking truth about the crackdown on Occupy: The violent police assaults across the US are no coincidence. Occupy has touched the third rail of our political class's venalityRead it and weep http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/cifamerica/2011/nov/25/shocking-truth-about-crackdown-occupy ------------------ Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it. ~Rumi~ IP: Logged |

These "nicely suited" Wall Street types ARE conducting "lawful business". I was once among their ranks...of stock brokers, though not on Wall Street.Let's not forget who cleaned up Wall Street after years of lawlessness overlooked by Kommander Korruption. In a word...BUSH. Now, look at the lawless mob whose very name screams lawlessness..."Occupiers". On what authority does anyone in America "occupy" the public right of ways in America? On what authority does a lawless mob deny other citizens the right to go about their lawful business and even deny other citizens the right to enter their own businesses, conduct business or purchase goods and services from merchants of their own choosing? These screechers, whiners, moaners and shriekers are right where they belong...politically. They're aligned with O'Bomber and the rest of the Communists Socialists, Progressives and Anarchists of the demoscat party. One more thing. The rest of America...for the most part...are fed up with their lawless mob tactics and have made the connection between the lawless mobs and demoscats...all the way up the political ladder to the White House. That's the reason for the crackdown. They no longer serve the interests of O'Bomber and his Socialist comrades in Congress. So, they're getting thrown under the bus; just like everyone else whose usefulness to the Socialist agenda ends. They've become politically "toxic" to O'Bomber and his comrades.

Yes, it is "personal" with me. Though stock brokers and financial institutions have absolutely nothing to do with it.I'm not the least shy about telling you...and anyone else, that your so called "rights" end the instant they "infringe" on my real rights. Let's recap, shall we? These moaning, shrieking, whining, free loading, mooching Communists, Socialists, Progressives and Anarchists have no permit to protest anywhere. They also have no permit and NO right to set up tent cities on "public right of ways" in public parks, violate public health laws or block pubic ingress and egress of other citizens going about "THEIR" lawful business. "To suggest that these nicely suited Wall St thugs are conducting "lawful business" is positively hilarious"...shura One other thing. If you're going to allege "illegality", then you should be prepared to state clearly what laws were violated....chapter and verse. IP: Logged |

It's personal with me also. As an American, I find it offensive that they call themselves a revolution and find calling themselves a movement insulting to real movements we have had in this country (especially for civil rights). The demands are ludicrous, and it doesn't matter which list you refer to, because any demands are ludicrous. The only way to enact change is through the political process. What do they think--that people will get tired of seeing them bum around and give them their demands? No way! Let's call this what it really is--a political protest. It will reach its apex and then fizzle out. They are wasting their time. Change begins in November 2012. ------------------ "The stars which shone over Babylon and the stable in Bethlehem still shine as brightly over the Empire State Building and your front yard today. "Change begins in November 2012." Submit a different year and you have hope and change all over again *sigh* with the exception of Ron Paul, there isn`t a single qualified man or woman running and it`s a crying shame as you tick their names off and look at what they don`t know. It is business as usual with Who they know. ------------------ Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it. ~Rumi~ IP: Logged |

Yeah, and we definitely got change the last time around; too bad it was the wrong kind of change. A Republican President will have a lot of pressure to make some strides in a different direction. The current administration is clueless about what to do. At this point, they are just spinning their wheels in one place with no idea which direction to go in. You don't spend money in a bad economy. That's Economics 101. Obama's programs have nearly crippled us.------------------ "The stars which shone over Babylon and the stable in Bethlehem still shine as brightly over the Empire State Building and your front yard today. to anyone who is tempted to believe the MSM assessment of OWSers as dirty hippies, or jwhop's as filthy commie lazy children, etc etc etc: http://morallowground.com/2011/11/17/retired-ny-supreme-court-justice-karen-smith-roughed-up-by-cops-for-intervening-in-brutal-beating-of-occupy-protesters-mom/ please tell me how this sort of behaviour on the part of police is justified even if said protesters are a bunch of spoiled dirty brats????? the story is basically told, by the way, by a former state supreme court justice who was AT the OWS in a legal capacity( and wearing clothing identifying her as such) which as far as i can tell, NONE of you shruggers and accusers have been yet?
