President Obama's former doctor claims that the president lacks passion, feeling and humanity
Jarrett Stepman
05/11/2012

In a revealing new book, The Amateur, author Edward Klein interviews President Barack Obama’s physician, Dr. David Scheiner, MD, who blasts the president’s health care plan and says that President Obama has an “academic detachment” that he could never break through.

The doctor fears that if the health care plan is “the failure” he believes it will be, because of runaway costs and other problems, then any health reform will be set back for years to come.

These are only a few of many reveals in Klein’s book, which makes the case that President Obama is not the political machine that people fear, but an amateur with a messianic complex who is completely out of his depth.

In an exclusive preview of The Amateur by Human Events, Obama’s longtime physician reveals the lack of humanity in Obama’s character and carelessness with which he enacted the entirely politicized health insurance reform, The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, often called ObamaCare.

Scheiner said that he believes the president miscalculated politically and that the health reform is ultimately doomed to fail. Worse, Scheiner doubts the character of a man who holds the highest and most influential office in America: “I think there is too much of the University of Chicago in him. By which I mean he’s academic, lacks passion and feeling, and doesn’t have the sense of humanity that I expected.”

The author, Klein, later in the book, compares Obama’s personality to early the 20th Century progressive president, Woodrow Wilson. By quoting the historian Forrest McDonald, who called Wilson’s perception of himself, “little short of Messianic,” Klein says that McDonald’s description of Wilson “fits Obama to a T.”

The Amateur is set to be released Tuesday, May 15. It is published by Regnery Publishing, owned by Eagle Publishing, which also owns Human Events.

In the chapter titled, “Hollow at the Core,” Obama’s former physician, who is a liberal, blasts the president for being uncaring, and perhaps worse, incompetent.

“He has no cost control. There would be no effective cost control,” said Scheiner. “The [Congressional Budget Office] said it’s going to be incredibly expensive… and the thing that I’m incredibly worried about is, if it is a failure that I think it will be, then health reform will be set back a long, long time.”

Scheiner said that the Obama administration neglected the advice of real physicians and instead decided to let political operatives craft Obama’s signature health care law. People like Obama’s former chief of staff Rahm Emanuel’s brother, Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, were the kinds of medical people that the White House consulted.

“Ezekiel is a medical oncologist, not a general physician,” said Scheiner.

The point that Scheiner was trying to make is that President Obama lacks the ability to understand the critical role of the doctor to patient interaction just as he fails to connect to people personally.

“My main objection to Barack Obama is that he is a great speaker and a lousy communicator. He isn’t getting his message across to people. He isn’t showing that he really cares. To this day he hasn’t communicated with members of Congress.”

Scheiner and other interviewees in The Amateur believe that President Obama has been a failure as a president, that he has failed to live up to the hype and has left a trail of betrayals in his wake.

Although Obama and Scheiner did not have a close relationship, Scheiner was clearly upset by how he was cut off when Obama became president.

“Obama invited his barber to his inauguration—his barber! But I wasn’t invited. Believe me, that hurt.”

Book: Rev. Wright offered $150 grand in 2008 to shut up until after election
Rick Moran

Looks like the "Wright distraction" has risen from the grave to haunt the Obama re-election campaign.

Ed Morrissey:

Hey, guess who's back? In his new book on Barack Obama titled The Amateur, Edward Klein caught up with Jeremiah Wright, Obama's minister and friend for 20 years and pastor of Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago. The Hillary Clinton campaign nearly derailed Obama's nomination by digging up Wright's incendiary and controversial sermons at TUCC, including exhortations like, "God damn America!" and saying that 9/11 was nothing more than America's chickens coming home to roost -- among many other statements. Obama later proclaimed ignorance of Wright's rants despite his long association with TUCC, and eventually renounced Wright and TUCC entirely when Wright wouldn't keep his mouth shut.

In his on-the-record interview with Klein, Wright claims that an Obama ally offered him $150,000 to keep his mouth shut and stop preaching until after the election, in excerpts published by the New York Post today.

I found this excerpt particularly enlightening. After the bribe was offered Wright, Obama paid him a visit:

"And one of the first things Barack said was, 'I really wish you wouldn't do any more public speaking until after the November election.' He knew I had some speaking engagements lined up, and he said, 'I wish you wouldn't speak. It's gonna hurt the campaign if you do that.'

"And what did you say?" I asked. "I said, 'I don't see it that way. And anyway, how am I supposed to support my family?' And he said, 'Well, I wish you wouldn't speak in public. The press is gonna eat you alive.'

"Barack said, 'I'm sorry you don't see it the way I do. Do you know what your problem is?' And I said, 'No, what's my problem?' And he said, 'You have to tell the truth.' I said, 'That's a good problem to have. That's a good problem for all preachers to have. That's why I could never be a politician.'

Morrissey points out that this makes Obama out to be a liar when he said he didn't listen to Wright's sermons for 20 years. He knew full well the kind of poison Wright had been spewing all those years. Chillingly, it also shows Obama agrees with his pastor "telling the truth" about America.

In case you haven't noticed, the press is ignoring both this story and the book. It will be interesting to see how the campaign responds and whether or not Wright confirms the allegation.

this is gossip and cheap at that.

any doctor who talked like that about any patient, let alone the president of the us, would be disbarred. it is flat out breach of patient confidentiality.

this is the same book and author YTA called a hack from the NY post, isn't it? from what i've seen every word is third hand and well fit for the NOTW...oh, but drat, they had to shut that hallowed rag down for bribery and invasion of privacy! maybe the daily mail uk will run it.

if this book were about sarah palin you wouldn't even bother with it, would you?

but, like the made-up smear about egypt the other day, ami has swallowed it whole. critical thinking award goes to...?

this is called double standard/blind bias, you choose.

The doctor in addition to having little ethical integrity (doctor-patient confidentiality be damned? What kind of doctor is this? No wonder he was fired) sounds slighted and vengeful, like he has a personal vendetta. I bet there is intense Scorpionic influence in that chart of his, particularly I'd check the moon. Obama probably DOESN'T feel things very deeply being an air moon, and he probably IS arrogant being a Leo, but honestly I would rather someone lead from logic/intellect rather than from emotion. The thought of a world leader making decisions based on "gut instinct" or vindictiveness honestly scares me. I have a water moon myself and I wouldn't elect another water moon.

I roll my eyes at the people who keep making reference to Wright as if to say Obama is a racist. I find it preposterous and absurd. It's like the big racial elephant in the room

Remember in 2007 when Senator Joe Biden caught heat for referring to Obama as an African-American who is "clean?" http://articles.cnn.c om/2007-01-31/politics/biden.obama_1_braun-and-al-sharpton-african-american-presidential-candidates-delaware-democrat?_s=PM:POLITICS. What was Obama's reaction to this? He made him vice-president. He brushed it off, likely the exact same way he did with Reverend Wright's remarks. The people trying to paint Obama as a bigot somehow NEVER seem to remember this! How interesting!

I look at his moon sign and I see air. I recognize his reactions. He simply does not take such remarks as seriously as most people. Perhaps he should, but just because he takes such remarks that hold serious weight to others lightly, does not make him a racist.

yes, he is a leo ox, with aqua rising and gem moon. able to step back from his own personal feelings and THINK about what might be the "right" thing to do. and he APPEARS far more detached than he probably is.

i wouldn't read a spite-fuelled book about sarah palin and i would expect any fairminded person to ignore such even about people they hate.

as for rev wright, obama described him perfect;y, a black man who grew up during times when that meant "just above invisible class" and who carries a lot of anger, which obama understands - but understanding doesn't mean GOING ALONG with or sharing, unless you are INCAPABLE of detachment, a major MINUS in a leader of any kind.
