OMG, now demoscats want to make me a ward of the state. No thanks, none for me.

These Marxist clowns get more and more delusional each day. I can't believe they would actually play a video with this line at their DNC Convention in Charolette for all the world to see...but, they did.

Earth to the Marxist clown demoscats. The F-ing government belongs to us and every single one of you congressional members, staff, bureaucrats in the executive branch, the prez, judges, staff...all of you, work for us. Got it straight now?

DNC video: “Government is the only thing we all belong to”
By: John Hayward

One of the worst monsters from the Democrat id unfortunately escaped to rampage across the forbidden planet of their convention on Monday, and had to be brought down with concentrated blasts of denial. The DNC played a video that included the unfortunate line, “Government is the only thing we all belong to.”

Adding insult to injury… well, actually, adding injury to insult… the DNC video was released just as Barack Obama took America over the line to $16 trillion in debt. We belong to the government, but it purchased us with its credit cards, and it hasn’t been keeping up on the payments.

Embarrassed Obama campaign staffers were compelled to disavow the video after Mitt Romney gave the one and only true American response, via Twitter: “We don’t belong to government, the government belongs to us.”

“The video in question was produced and paid for by the host committee of the city of Charlotte,” sniffed an anonymous Obama for America official, quoted at Buzzfeed. “It’s neither an OFA nor a DNC video, despite what the Romney campaign is claiming. It’s time for them to find a new target for their faux outrage.”

Under the bus with you, Charlotte host committee! Also, it would be super helpful if everyone who saw this video at the Democrat convention stuffed it into their memory hole, along with Obama’s record in office. Pretend it was some kind of weird amateur video that slipped past the vigilant convention organizers who have been working around the clock to micro-manage every aspect of this three-day infomercial.

The new marching orders from Obama for America would seem very confusing to the liberals who have been rallying to defend the “government is the only thing we all belong to” line, if they weren’t already accustomed to turning on a dime whenever the Obama campaign orders them to. The Left was in the middle of shrieking that the video wasn’t saying the government “owns” us; it was saluting the government as the collective expression of our combined will, justified in anything it wants to do – or make the rest of us do – because we sanctify it every few years through the ritual of voting.

Even this benign-sounding apologia for “government is the only thing we all belong to” is incredibly wrong-headed. We most certainly do not belong to the government. We are all members of the electorate, which is a very different thing. Each of us lives beneath several distinct governments – federal, state, city – empowered to protect our rights, not act as the almighty executor of some “collective will” that exists only in the totalitarian fantasies of liberals. There are very few areas of government action that command anything like overwhelming majority support from Americans, let alone nearly unanimous approval.

The Founding Fathers thought it was very important that just and lawful governments obtain the willing consent of their people. That implies a recognition of the right to withdraw consent, which is one of the most powerful moral and practical arguments for devolving power from central government to the states. There are supposed to be very few inescapable directives hitting Americans from their omnipresent federal government. This childish Democrat worship of our huge, bankrupt, compulsive federal machine as a kind of Cub Scout troop we all belong to – in which a dedicated minority with plenty of political power can force the unhappy campers to do anything they want – is disgusting, and frightening. I would much rather boast of memberships in private organizations I joined voluntarily, and which must compete to retain me.

The Obama campaign should be embracing this video warmly, not cravenly running away from it. It’s the perfect reduction of Obama’s “you didn’t build that” philosophy. He does think the government owns you, has a limitless right to reclaim anything it has “given” you, manages every significant endeavor, and has a moral duty to take good care of you. All that is required in exchange is your obedience.

Update: Some attendees at the Democrat convention were asked about this “disavowed” video, and they sure as heck didn’t disavow it. In fact, they were delighted at the thought of being owned by the government:

The Charlotte Freak Show
By Peter Heck

Not since the tear gas and mass arrests of Chicago 1968 have the Democrats put on a convention that better demonstrated to the American people the sorry state of the left's values and ideals. From the opening refrains that echoed the macabre yet unifying obsession amongst Democrats in Charlotte to promote the killing of unborn children to the culminating moment of President Barack Obama telling us why we need more of him in our lives to survive, the Democrat National Convention revealed just how deplorable things have become in that party.

Truth be told, most casual observers could see the train wreck coming a mile away. Once the speaker line-up for the convention's opening day had been released, the ensuing circus was completely predictable. First, the Democrats would give the floor to a communist from the SEIU, followed by the most rabid abortion fanatic in the country. Then, Harry Reid would take to the stage, presumably to tell everyone of a secret phone call he had just received informing him that Mitt Romney had once molested a pack of wild penguins. He wouldn't have proof, because it's Romney's job to prove that it didn't happen.

And just in case the mentally unstable Senate majority leader wasn't embarrassing enough, corrupt Mayor Rahm Emanuel was invited to take a break from his busy schedule of presiding over Chicago's descent into the third layer of Hell to come lecture on good government. Not that Emanuel's speech was necessary to depict exactly what Democrats see as an effective administration. The stirring video tribute to the disastrous Carter years, as well as the keynote address from a man with the appropriate last name of Castro, pretty much said it all.

When Michelle Obama finally approached the microphone, she was following a procession of idiocy and buffoonery that no conservative commentator could even hope to parody. And keep in mind that that was just the first day.

But lest you were tempted to think that the Democrats are incapable of equaling such incoherence, day two should have laid those fears to rest. For that was the moment when the podium was handed over to a thirty-year-old woman whose life mission appears to be getting you to pay for her birth control. Perhaps nothing better defines or encapsulates the left's view of government's appropriate role than having it function as a prophylactic Pez Dispenser. And what does it say about the extent of liberal visionaries when a prime speaking role is given to an individual who is significant only because a popular radio host called her a nasty name?

Yet amazingly, Sandra Fluke wasn't the real spectacle of the evening. Nor was the keynote speaker, former President Bill Clinton, who spent his time reminding Americans how he balanced the budget and created jobs. Apparently, we were all supposed to just ignore the inconvenient reality that such success was predicated upon Clinton following the pro-business, free market policies enacted by a Republican Congress. Absent from Clinton's speech, of course, were the multiple criticisms he has made in recent years of President Obama's decision to abandon that pro-growth approach in favor of economy-crushing, high-tax, big-government regulation.***hehehe.."The era of big government is over"..ring any bells..usual suspects?***

But the pinnacle of the week came in two key moments. The first occurred in an opening DNC video that included the jaw-dropping line "Government is the only thing that we all belong to." Who exactly wrote the script for this video? Chairman Mao? As Mitt Romney appropriately tweeted in response, in America, "[w]e don't belong to the government. Government belongs to us." That Democrats see this foundational reality completely backwards is extraordinarily instructive.

Couple that revelation with the Democrats' decision to drop the one reference to God from their platform. Now, in some ways this was a mere formality -- codifying what their public policy agenda has embraced for some time. After all, when the leader of your party and president of the United States shakes his fist at the sky and tells God that His definition of marriage is bigoted, removing His name from the platform shouldn't really be a surprise.

And yes, after public outrage, the Democrats reinserted God -- to much consternation, boos, and hisses from the raucous crowd. But the larger point comes in the context of a convention dedicated to the proposition that government is the new god. It cares for us, provides for us, nurtures us, teaches us, corrects us, props us up, and wipes the tears from our eyes. Without it, we can do nothing -- we are nothing. We are a people of, by, and for the government.

So while we didn't witness SWAT teams and riot gear this time around, we were left to consider this pathetic reality: in 1968, most mainstream Democrats were embarrassed by what happened in Chicago. In 2012, they are thumping their chests with pride over the spectacle in Charlotte.

did you actually catch any of the convention, jwhop, or just relying once again on those who are paid to diss it in the most prejudiced possible way?

i heard god mentioned numerous times in the few speeches i did catch.

and which god are we supposed to be talking about? the muslim god is equated with the devil by christians, and the christians don't seem to be able to decide whether jesus preached peace, love and forgiveness or persecution of the uninitiated.

this country was not founded as a monument to christianity. the "under god" and "in god we trust" emblems were installed in the 50s when GODLESS COMMUNISM was the big bogeyman.

so do tell how you know that god was written out of the DNC, and how he managed to get in there so often anyway?

oh and by the way there were no boos at mention of HIRS name.

Obama:
"And by the way – those of us who carry on his party’s legacy should remember that not every problem can be remedied with another government program or dictate from Washington."

"because those of us who believe government can be a force for good should work harder than anyone to reform it, so that it’s leaner, more efficient, and more responsive to the American people."

"As Americans, we believe we are endowed by our Creator with certain inalienable rights – rights that no man or government can take away. We insist on personal responsibility and we celebrate individual initiative."

"We don’t think government can solve all our problems."

"Because we understand that this democracy is ours."

"As citizens, we understand that America is not about what can be done for us. It’s about what can be done by us, together, through the hard and frustrating but necessary work of self-government."

This video where the line was put forward was created by the city of Charlotte for the city of Charlotte and its guests. It wasn't created for Obama or his campaign. Further, the line in context states:

"We are committed to all people. We do believe you can use government in a good way. The government is the only thing that we all belong to. We're in different churches, different clubs, but we're together as part of our city, or our county, or our state."

Yeah, that's so damning.

As a matter of fact, I did take some Maalox and watched parts of the demoscat convention.

This was the biggest spectacle of outright lying I've ever seen; inter-spaced with delusional loony-tunes like former Governor Jennifer Granholm who I thought must be having a psychiatric melt down event on stage.

Hahaha We're supposed to forget that Clinton pursued a far different policy...a Republican policy of tax cuts, reduced government spending and regulatory rollbacks to produce that good economy and those balanced budgets...and he was forced to do so by a Congress ready to override his veto of bills they sent up for him to sign. They drug Clinton to the signing table kicking and screaming. What could he do...but try to take credit for it all and declare..."THE ERA OF BIG GOVERNMENT IS OVER". And just a few months ago, Clinton was saying to anyone who would listen, that now is not the time, in a tough economy, to be raising taxes on anyone. Hahahaha Suddenly, O'Bomber's policy of tax raises, increased government spending and ballooning national debt is just the ticket for America.

Every rational person in America was laughing at Kommander Korruption and giving Clinton yet another nick name.
