An erudite, intelligent young man with full knowledge of Western Culture has no problems in understanding the Quran.

I do not think Sean needed to officially convert, but he chose to do it anyway.

The Radical "Islamists" do not base their ideology on the Quran. They base it on "selective" hearsay documented nearly 300 years after the end of the first Islamic Caliphate.

In this website submission.org that explains Islam from the Quran only perspective, it is clear that Jews, Christians and Muslims are 100% equal as per Quran:

It is thus forbidden to attack a Jew or a Christian. Those who do so are not Muslim as per definition of the Quran, and all right thinking Muslims are opposed to the barbarians who oppose the Quran's teachings.

Please read this with an unbiased Mind. To get influenced by Radical Christians to hate Islam, Quran and Muslims without studying the true basis of Islam from the Quran as the only true source, is just as negative as being a Radical Muslim.
