Made you look.
This is an interesting observation...I'm not sure what to think of the idea (especially as like only half the people vote anyway and I doubt there's a major social shift revealed by which party the POTUS happens to be at the time, particularly when it seems people are more inclined to vote AGAINST than for with many independents ultimately deciding elections, at least when it's not the courts) on why this might be, but some interesting, or at least fun, thought on the matter regardless (at least for an air sign):

Here's the weirdest graph you'll see all week. It's graphing the popularity of zombie movies versus vampire movies, split out by whether the president at the time was a Republican or a Democrat. There are exceptions, but in general when a Republican is in office, it's all about zombies. When it's a Democrat, it's all about vampires:

Why the Right Fears Vampires (though I feel compelled to point out that Twilight seemed left alone even by the Christian Right, though it's possible that "chastity before marriage" and a woman being that dominated by and dependent on a man might've made them grudgingly approve the message).
Why the Left Fears Zombies (This did remind me of the Simpsons Halloween ep where Homer blows zombies away representing tradition & patriotism, with such lines as, "Take that, Washington!" as he blows away zombie George Washington, not to mention the super-Christian zombie Ned Flanders, and ends with them being glad they didn't turn into mindless zombies just before they moan like zombies watching the TV.)
Btw, in case anyone wants to see Deadliest Warrior (a show I and a history teacher have quibbled over the few times we've watched it) jump the shark you can see their part of vampires vs. zombies here:

That was so bad it was good!
Though I like my undead portrayed as (or at least possessed by) evil spirits (I'm waiting eagerly for Evil Dead, one of the rare gory horror movie I'd willingly see without being dragged), with vampires being only half-physical (thus no reflections or shadows as they belong more to the realm of spirits, and also does a lot to explain why they can't enter many places without an invite) rather than mutants. But if vampirism is a virus then it would be interesting to know how (and IF) it's affected by the zombie virus...and since a zombie apocalypse means a lot of starving vampires I could see a vampires vs. zombie sitch in such a case where vampires are fully corporeal and caused by a virus rather than evil spirits.
Oh, great, still on the original post and already the thread has strayed off topic.
