Speaking Sunday on NBC, Patrick says the video clearly puts 19-year-old Dzhokhar Tsarnaev (joh-KHAR' tsahr-NEYE'-ehv) at the scene of the attack. Tsarnaev is in serious condition at a Boston hospital after his capture Friday.

Patrick says the video is "pretty clear about his involvement and pretty chilling, frankly."

He says he hasn't viewed all the surveillance tapes but has been briefed by law enforcement about them.

Tsarnaev's older brother, Tamerlan, is also considered a suspect. He died in a gunbattle with police earlier Friday.

Investigators have determined the bombs were fashioned from pressure cookers packed with explosives, nails and ball bearings.

The governor of Massachusetts said Sunday that he has no idea what motivated the brothers accused of exploding two bombs near the finish line of the Boston Marathon.

Speaking on CBS' "Face the Nation," Gov. Deval Patrick said it's hard to imagine why someone would deliberately harm "innocent men, women and children in the way that these two fellows did."

Patrick also said law enforcers believe the immediate threat ended when police killed one suspect and captured the other. The two suspects, Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, were brothers whose family had come to the U.S. from Russia.

Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, was killed in a gunbattle with police Friday. Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, was captured later Friday after being pulled bloody and wounded from a tarp-covered boat in a suburban Boston backyard. He is being guarded by armed officers while he recovers at a Boston hospital.

Three people were killed and more than 180 injured when two bombs, apparently fashioned out of pressure cookers, exploded Monday about four hours into the race. The brothers are also suspected of killing an MIT police officer and severely injuring a transit officer.

there seems to be some debate over whether police or the younger brother killed the older brother.

i have now seen 3 different stories about how tamerlan died....

While a panel of news reporters and government officials discussed the case this morning on NBC's Meet The Press with David Gregory, no one mentioned the words, "radical Islam" or "Muslim terrorist" or any such term as that. Additionally the Wall Street Journal's Peggy Noonan said she was relieved that the Boston bombers devices were crudely put together and not more sophisticated devices. However, according to the Mirror, a source close to the investigation said:

“We have no doubt the brothers were not acting alone. The devices used to detonate the two bombs were highly sophisticated and not the kind of thing people learn from Google. They were too advanced. Someone gave the brothers the skills and it is now our job to find out just who they were. Agents think the sleeper cell has up to a dozen members and has been waiting several years for their day to come.”

Well, this certainly make you wonder what will happen next. Where is the American press on this?

The FBI was last night hunting a 12-strong terrorist “sleeper cell” linked to the Boston marathon bomb brothers.

Police believe Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev were specially trained to carry out the devastating attack.

More than 1,000 FBI operatives were last night working to track down the cell and arrested a man and two women 60 miles from Boston in the hours before Dzhokhar’s dramatic capture after a bloody shootout on Friday.

A source close to the investigation said: “We have no doubt the brothers were not acting alone. The devices used to detonate the two bombs were highly sophisticated and not the kind of thing people learn from Google.

“They were too advanced. Someone gave the brothers the skills and it is now our job to find out just who they were. Agents think the sleeper cell has up to a dozen members and has been waiting several years for their day to come.”

A specialist team of CIA and FBI interrogators was yesterday flown to a Boston hospital to grill wounded Dzhokhar, 19, about the secret group. The University of Massachusetts student was caught on Friday after hiding out in a boat parked in a garden in locked down Watertown the day after a gun battle with police left his 26-year-old brother and a rookie cop dead.

Dzhokhar is said to have run his brother over as he escaped in a stolen car while Tamerlan lay handcuffed on the ground. They were carrying six bombs with them at the time, three of which ­exploded, as well as a handgun and rifle. The devices were thought to be pipe bombs.

Last night Dzhokhar – badly wounded but alive – lay handcuffed to his hospital bed under armed guard. The other three arrested in the port of New Bedford are also believed to be of college age.

Dzhokhar even went to a college party two days after the bombs wreaked havoc at the finish line. According to fellow students, he “looked relaxed” as he joined in a party at the campus on Wednesday night.

Hours later he was involved in the shootout which saw his brother killed.

Investigators have begun piecing together how the “well-mannered” brothers of Chechen origin were radicalised. Neighbours of the family said older brother Tamerlan had recently become obsessed with Islam. He mysteriously left the US in January last year to spend six months in Russia. Yesterday senior FBI counter-terrorism official Kevin Brock said: “It’s a key thread for investigators.”

It also emerged the Bureau interviewed Tamerlan two years ago, at the request of the Russian government, but could not establish that he had ties to terrorist radicals.

This was despite his worrying Russian-language YouTube page featuring links to extremist Islamic sites and others since taken down by YouTube.

randall i saw NEWS FOOTAGE of what appeared to be tamerlan being escorted naked and unwounded into a police car.

i have also seen some fairly convincing photos that look like a man being fitted up with prosthetic "amputee" legs WITH NO BLOOD on them, impossible if they were really blown off...

lotta stuff doesn't add up. there is video out there but officially it is disappearing and we are being TOLD THE STORY which often contradicts itself...

CNN has discredited themselves many times recently. Remember when they used to have cred?? The Iraq war negated that
I would post a list but everyone here is well aware of their shenanigans over the last several years.

On point: I agree that [ with those that say ] these brothers were not alone. To do what was accomplished takes some expertise, and a precursor.
