I heard in passing yesterday that china has basically taken over about 12 miles of india territory...does anyone, especiallyiq know anything about this?IP: Logged |

According to several news outlets this is an ongoing situatiob, with the chinese going so far as to include this 12 mile area on maps of china on passports..wondering if this is common knowledge in india...IP: Logged |

Should i be feeling mocked?I was just wondering how this was being presented to Indians, maybe iq doesn't find it interesting enough to comment on but to me, after tibet this is sinister news? ohhh...that unconfuses me!  that part was in a story printed in Arabnews. interestingly the chinese are using the boundary they have redrawn as reference for rebutting india's claim...of course if that land is part of china they are not intruding..and explains why they would be "patrolling" territory they call theirs but the indians are building roads on. perhaps we should just say mexico is part of the us, that would reframe/solve the immigrant issue wouldn't it? Yup, the PLA are squatting on 400 sq km of what was ASSUMED to be Indian Territory but not officially demarcated. The dispute is on since British Times, India behaved sportingly and did not fence that portion but China is not a democracy and we cannot expect them to behave responsibly. Negotiations are going on.It is actually very messy in India. The Right Wing Opposition wants a war with Pakistan, China and all Muslims within India. They want to eliminate all tribals and go for an Oligarchy Style, upper middle class/upper caste rule with an Autocratic PM. Their script is straight from the film "Avatar". The poor and Lower middle class Indians voted this Government with a powerful mandate but right wing controlled Media has launched a full scale battle now with totally false data to belittle this good, inclusive government [which did have some rotten, very corrupt apples from allies to sully the image]. As long as liberal left/center left democratic parties are in charge, India will not escalate and never go for war. Not with China. But if the right wing elitist BJP comes to power in 2014, there will certainly be a small escalation with China to satisfy the right wing cadre. As of now there is nothing to worry because calm heads are tackling the issue.
