I love this.
http://www.cnn.com/2013/04/27/politics/white-house-correspondents-dinner/index.html

quote:
The press was also included in his standup routine. The History Channel, whose depiction of Satan in its TV miniseries "The Bible" left viewers claiming that it resembled the president, wasn't in attendance, likely because of that incident, Obama said.

"Of course, that never kept Fox News from showing up -- they actually thought the comparison was not fair to Satan," he joked. To CNN, he said he admired the "commitment to cover all sides of the story, just in case one of them happens to be accurate," while he commended the "nice change of pace" at MSNBC. The network now has his former political adviser David Axelrod working for them, whereas "MSNBC used to work for David Axelrod."

He's gone up in "my polls" (at least as a person, but just because I can like someone doesn't mean I think they'd make a good POTUS, as opposed to those who voted for Bush because they thought they could "have a beer with him"), though I suspect some (both supporters and naysayers) will accuse him of betraying the dignity of his office. But then if the US public in general demand he put on a show of anger over the Gulf oil spill (rather than doing something useful) because they wanted him to be their representative in outrage or whatever then this is definitely ok in my book...I'd rather someone with that much power show the ability to laugh at himself as much as his sitch than a hothead looking for a butt to kick.

Besides, he said, "Rush warned you." (No, he didn't point to the audience or cams and laugh maniacally, to those who are imagining it now. ) Easy to laugh when you get both terms I suppose.

Btw, gotta give CNN points for sharing that zing against them, they usually don't...but then I thought CNN deserved a lot worse than that as they tend to limit a debate to a false duality and then refuse to cover either side in any depth unless it serves as pure mind candy or theater. Frankly, I'd rather watch FOX than CNN as FOX is more informative (I just get annoyed with FOX for trying to tell me what to think while reporting the news). Of course I skip BOTH FOX & CNN when I can.

Yes an ability to laugh at oneself at the same time as making a much needed point about the sorry state of the "press" indicates a mature character...which doesn't guarantee wise decisions all around, but DOES dispel the myth of the power hungry demon some wish he was...

But he was just as funny in other roast/toasts before he won his second term. I suspect it is just a sample of dry/wry wit which is fairly typical of his personality

Haha! Overall his speech was great. My favorite part was:

"I know Republicans are still sorting out what happened in 2012, but one thing they all agree on is they need to do a better job reaching out to minorities. And look, call me self-centered, but I can think of one minority they could start with. Hello? Think of me as a trial run, you know?" Barack Obama

Lmao. He's got great timing when it comes to humor.
