well doomlord given your maturity at 17 i expect by 50 you will be as wise as solomon. of course you WILL learn and grow and possibly change your mind about many things.but those who dismiss the compassion of teens are forgetting what the world does to so many of us...and it's not pretty. stay wise, and don't let your service harden your heart or cloud your vision. If a family legally qualifies for assistance, it is not the social workers duties to find out if they terrorists before giving funds. And DL, exactly what kat said . ------------------ We need to listen to our own song, and share it with others, but not force it on them. Our songs are different. Amen to that. For its own reasons, the voice of youth should be harkened to as much so as the voice of experience. It's those of us in the middle that spout most of the nonsense. We've been blessed with several exceptional young souls over the years here at LL. Juni, there was a young man here ... I want to say he was a drama student. He moderated the poetry forum? This is back in 2002-2004 or so. Name escapes me. IP: Logged |

Thanks juni Unfortunally, i have yet to be certain of what my service might entail since im still in the recruitment process. That is one of the organization problems we have here.... recruits must be sent to evaluations, get scores, recive certain possible positions to choose from, and then get evaluated again for one or some of these positions....and its a long and tiresome process ive been going through since october . Mostly becuse im a single child and have very problematic feet (which makes dish-washing a somewhat painfull task with all the standing) i was declared unfit for combat and so will only serve in non-combat positions which sometimes require the use of brains and usually offers something in life. Through my evaluation process i got to reach the strangest places and see things of which existance is not spoken about in public....but for now i remain without a designated role. My last chance will probably be in july when i would get invited to evaluations for the position i wanted and fought for (sending daily faxes and calls since the system tends to "forget" you if you are nice) and maybe others if im that lucky. I want to be a psychotechnic profiler in the army....whose are the people who often pass the primary evaluations and give the recruits interviews for their readiness to serve in the militairy and about general personality qualities (and of course many other different roles which often make their work day sometimes near 12 hours a day). Its considered a very prestegious role and i have yet to find something similiar to pursue so im really hoping i would get accepted (only 50 people recruited per cycle and usually only 2 are men) IP: Logged |

doommlord, Correct me if i'm wrong but I've read that the IDF is becoming more integrated and even some minorities serve. This includes Ethiopians. Off topic you would be the foremost person on this subject and topic. There is a difference between reading and watching the TV vs experiencing it day by day. Thanks for your insight. Lol, is krav maga always about a kick to the groin? IP: Logged |

yes i can say that ethiopians do serve in the militairy and are almost always serve as fighters (i live next to many and see some of them in uniform walking aroung the neighborhood and riding the bus) also the integration of LGTB is also fairly good but is mostly related to where you serve. i am always here for info about the army or the country if anyone wishes to ask krav maga is not always about ball bustin it involves counter attacks and a lot of blocking...but a kick to the pair is always welcomed :P i have a friend who plans to serve as a krav maga instructor in the army il ask him about it when il talk to him. Thank you for replying DL. It is nice to read your aspirations. quote: Through my evaluation process i got to reach the strangest places and see things of which existance is not spoken about in public....but for now i remain without a designated role.
Intriguing ! It must have given you much to ponder while you move on to your evaluations. It sounds like your military gives men a chance for an education and position that is useful when released from service too. quote: I want to be a psychotechnic profiler in the army
Will that require a 4 yr (or more)degree? I am addicted to criminal profiling programs on tv and find the process captivating. Sounds like a terrific use of ones natural abilities, education and determination. It sounds tedious getting there but July is closer than we think ------------------ We need to listen to our own song, and share it with others, but not force it on them. Our songs are different. yes i am pretty amazed to see what technology the country holds and how much they are willing to trust 18 year-olds with responsibility i cannot even describe in words. the army actually reqires all non-combat soldiers to pass at least a single course during their militairy service. the course can be from simple use of computers to electronics, fixing helicopters and airplanes, managing human resources, managing logistics software, training combat soldiers, managing computer servers and more! the avarage course usually is 8 weeks...it can be considered short yet few positions reqire really exstensive training. (i as offered once a position that requires 36 week course) and the militairy training system is one of the most efficient ones there is....since the recruits will be spending their time all week long at the training school and there are reraly any restrictions on time managemt (other than 6 hours sleep, eating time and an hour before sleep to deal with personal matters) the recruits can be trained for even 12 hours straight. quote: Originally posted by juniperb:

ehm the nature of the position is mostly personality analysis of recruits and their compatibily and skills (among other things) so no prisoners in this case :P the course is 16 weeks long (and you get to visit militairy bases and prisons too) and is built on hours and hours of psychology study and is said to be one of the best non-combat courses (even though it is not as valued as computers or intelligence) and often the experience with the training can allow you to work in the field outside the militairy (for things like work evaluations etc...) and can serve an good boost for anyone wishing to work in psychology *wink wink* to get to the position reqires quite the personality skills and the evaluation process is not easy (only 1 out of 6 gets the job) and even though there is severe lack of manpower in this position the army wont bend its reqirement since this position is vastly important so im a little bit afraid i wont get it (damm cap rising doubts ). stanford is considered one of the best, though not an "ivy league" ie, upperclass, school. and yes, it is good to have someone who actually lives in israel and makes honest observations about it, without either excess patriotic approval or complaint.IP: Logged |

Youl be surprised how hard it is to find neutral in this country... the extremism does nothing good to us. Truly is worthy of the scorpio ascendant it wears. IP: Logged |

Stanford is an excellent Uni. I recall Queens major being Enginering. He also moded Teen Spirit until he went off to the Uni. ------------------ We need to listen to our own song, and share it with others, but not force it on them. Our songs are different.
