Admiral James Lyons (Ret.) Calls Benghazi Hearing “the tip of the iceberg” Revelations at Wednesday’s Benghazi hearings in Congress were “just the tip of the iceberg,” said Admiral James Lyons (Ret.). I caught up with Admiral Lyons, the former Commander-in-Chief of the U.S. Pacific Fleet and senior U.S. military representative to the United Nations, at a press conference in Washington today, and asked him a few questions. “We failed to protect those Americans who were under attack. There’s no other way to describe it,” said Lyons. Referring to the Obama administration’s original story that it was the anti-Islam video that sparked a demonstration, which led to the murder of Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans, Lyons said, “As Richard Nixon found out, you don’t lie to the American public. Hopefully that theme will be picked up and carried on, and those that were perpetuating the lie will be held accountable. Resignation does come to mind.” Back in January, I had a much longer discussion with the retired admiral, about Benghazi, Hillary Clinton’s testimony and question, “What difference does it make?,” the Arab Spring, the Muslim Brotherhood, the Law of the Sea Treaty and much more. Adm. Lyons is a national treasure who candidly speaks his mind. http://www.aim.org/on-target-blog/admiral-james-lyons-ret-calls-benghazi-hearing-the-tip-of-the-iceberg/ ------------------ Passion, Lust, Desire. PRESIDENT OBAMA FIRED THREE GENERALS AND ONE ADMIRAL TO COVER UP BENGHAZI PRESIDENT OBAMA FIRED THREE GENERALS AND ONE ADMIRAL TO COVER UP BENGHAZI 05-10-2013 1:28 am - Michael Savage Maj. Gen. Ralph Baker, commander of the Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa, was fired March 28, according to a Washington Defense official.
The command is headquartered in Djibouti and runs U.S. military operations in East Africa, including some counter-terrorism operations. Baker, a two-star general, is appealing the firing, which was ordered by his boss, Gen. Carter Ham, the commanding general of all U.S. military operations across Africa. He was relieved of his duty for loss of confidence, three Defense officials told CNN. It was second embarrassing dismissal of a high ranking officer involved in the U.S. military hierarchy in Africa in five months. Gen. William “Kip” Ward, the first four-star general to command U.S. military operations in Africa, was demoted for excessive spending from duty at U.S. Africa Command (Africom). He lost one star and retired a lieutenant general. Ward used his rank to shuttle his wife on shopping sprees, enjoyed a lavish beachfront trip and once accepted a Defense contractor’s gift of going backstage to meet actor Denzel Washington. There are reports that two high-ranking military officers, Rear Admiral Charles Gaouette and General Carter Ham, were fired by Obama for wanting to come to the assistance of the beleaguered U.S. missions in Benghazi. ----------------------- SOURCE: http://www.michaelsavage.wnd.com/2013/05/obama-fired-4-generals-to-cover-up-benghazi/ ------------------ Passion, Lust, Desire. Hell Hath Frozen Over…MSNBC Turns on Obama…Calls Benghazi “Cover-Up”…Mentions ImpeachmentMSNBC has been one of the media lapdogs for the Obama administration. Far from being a news organization, it is a merely a mouth-piece for Socialists and the far Left and they have towed that line consistently. However, now even MSNBC is beginning to wake up on the issue of Benghazi and turn on their faux messiah, Barack Hussein Obama. MSNBC is now claiming that Benghazi was not only a terrible event, but it was a cover-up, that the administration lied, that people didn’t have to die, and (gasp) it may just be worthy of impeachment! ------------------ Passion, Lust, Desire. Hell hasn't frozen over. If you go to the MSNBC website right now, you'll find two front page mentions of Bengazi:Rand Paul: Benghazi should preclude Hillary Clinton from higher office and Nancy Pelosi blasts GOP ‘obsession’ with Benghazi You will not find MSNBC endorsing the views of Republicans regarding Bengazi. MSNBC wrote up Rand Paul's article with the implication that he's in pre-campaign mode, and trying to land hits on Hillary Clinton early. That's hardly an endorsement. Going to their National Security Section, Bengazi once again tops the list: Talking points fuel Benghazi firestorm In it, you'll find this nugget: Further information indicates that the so-called “cover up” appears to be an example of inter-agency antipathy more than insidious political conspiracy. An update to the original ABC report adds that State Department spokesman Victoria Nolan sought to alter the talking points not to protect the president’s image in the middle of his re-election campaign, but because, “she believed the CIA was attempting to exonerate itself at the State Department’s expense by suggesting CIA warnings about the security situation were ignored.” http://tv.msnbc.com/2013/05/11/talking-points-fuel-benghazi-firestorm/
That's not really MSNBC showing any sort of different way of handling this Administration. It goes on with stuff like: Clinton’s successor at the State Department addressed the slow burning controversy in a Google hangout with NBC News Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent Andrea Mitchell, saying, “It’s a tragedy, but I hate to see it turned into a pure, prolonged political process that really doesn’t tell us anything new about the facts.” White House Press Secretary Jay Carney was more direct in a heated press conference on Friday, calling out GOP lawmakers and operatives for their “attempts to politicize,” the Benghazi tragedy, and standing by his original comments that “the only edits made by anyone here at The White House were stylistic and non-substantive.”
I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, Ami, but MSNBC seems to be steadily where its long been. There's no indication that it, as a news organization, is buying into the rhetoric of the Right. On the 7th (Tuesday), they were parroting Jon Stewart with an article titled, Republicans allege Benghazi ‘cover up,’ but of what exactly?" IP: Logged |

CBS' Sharyl Attkisson Taking Heat from Network with Direct Ties to Obama's Cover-Up Team CBS’ lone reporter on the Benghazi beat is Sharyl Attkisson, who has been questioning the White House’s ‘false narrative’ about the deadly terrorist attack from the beginning. But she’s in hot water with network chiefs. And who are these chiefs? One of them is CBS News’ President David Rhodes, whose brother happens to be President Obama’s deputy national security advisor for strategic communications Ben Rhodes. According to ABC News, Ben Rhodes is heavily implicated in the editing of the CIA’s intelligence briefing on Benghazi, which became the White House’s carefully redacted talking points during last year’s re-election campaign. References to terrorism, al Qaeda, and the affiliated Islamist group Ansar al-Sharia were removed, and fabricated talking points about an anti-Islamic video and spontaneous protests interjected into the narrative. The Daily Caller’s Patrick Howley broke the story: But on Friday, ABC News reported that the Benghazi talking points went through 12 revisions before they were used on the public. The White House was intimately involved in that process, ABC reported, and the talking points were scrubbed free of their original references to a terror attack. That reporting revealed that President Obama’s deputy national security advisor, Ben Rhodes — brother of CBS News president David Rhodes — was instrumental in changing the talking points in September 2012. It is unclear who in the White House made the alterations to the substance of the intelligence reports. Ben Rhodes wrote to his colleagues in the Obama administration in the aftermath of the Benghazi terrorist attack that: “We must make sure that the talking points reflect all agency equities, including those of the State Department, and we don’t want to undermine the FBI investigation. We thus will work through the talking points tomorrow morning at the Deputies Committee meeting.” Ben Rhodes advocated for the president’s decision to invade Libya, which the president did without Congressional authorization, and also supported the removal of former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak from office, thus paving the way for the Muslim Brotherhood. Interestingly, Ben Rhodes has a master’s degree in fiction from NYU and views himself as a spokesperson for the president on foreign issues. In a major development, foreign policy expert and media critic Richard Grenell reveals that: “CBS News President David Rhodes and ABC News President Ben Sherwood, both of them have siblings that not only work at the White House, that not only work for President Obama, but they work at the NSC on foreign policy issues directly related to Benghazi.” ------------------ Passion, Lust, Desire. Op-Ed in the NYT? Op-Ed's are news now? I like this line of hers:"Truth is the first casualty here when competing fiefs protect their mythologies. Some unhinged ideologues on the right cling to the mythology that Barry and Hillary are out to destroy America." http://www.nytimes.com/2013/05/12/opinion/sunday/dowd-when-myths-collide-in-t he-capital.html?_r=0 And I like this first comment I see below the article: "Rima, the issues you cite are central, but that doesn't render the poor handling of Benghazi, especially by the Defense Department, a non-issue. There's plenty of blame to go around, and it should be shared by the Obama administration for its response *and* by the Republican Congress for cuts to the diplomatic security budget." Other comments on the article are similarly good. How many attacks on U.S. embassies happened under Bush's watch? And how many were publicized to this extent? IP: Logged |

Posting from the article on attacks on US Embassies during Mr Bush's watch: January 22, 2002. Calcutta, India. Gunmen associated with Harkat-ul-Jihad al-Islami attack the U.S. Consulate. Five people are killed.
June 14, 2002. Karachi, Pakistan. Suicide bomber connected with al Qaeda attacks the U.S. Consulate, killing 12 and injuring 51.
May 12, 2003. Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Armed al Qaeda terrorists storm the diplomatic compound, killing 36 people including nine Americans. The assailants committed suicide by detonating a truck bomb.
July 30, 2004. Tashkent, Uzbekistan. A suicide bomber from the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan attacks the U.S. Embassy, killing two people.
December 6, 2004. Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Al Qaeda terrorists storm the U.S. Consulate and occupy the perimeter wall. Nine people are killed.
March 2, 2006. Karachi, Pakistan again. Suicide bomber attacks the U.S. Consulate killing four people, including U.S. diplomat David Foy who was directly targeted by the attackers. (I wonder if Lindsey Graham or Fox News would even recognize the name "David Foy." This is the third Karachi terrorist attack in four years on what's considered American soil.)
September 17, 2008. Sana'a, Yemen. Terrorists dressed as military officials attack the U.S. Embassy with an arsenal of weapons including RPGs and detonate two car bombs. Sixteen people are killed, including an American student and her husband (they had been married for three weeks when the attack occurred). This is the second attack on this embassy in seven months.
============================================ Obama has nothing to worry about, he has fared far better than Bush in the matter of protecting Americans in their own embassies. I think the Republicans are still hurting from the crushing electoral blow dished out by Obama. Nothing they do can unseat Obama, he is going to complete his term, and in 2016 again it will be the Democrats as the entire American demographic is shifting to pro-Democrat party groups. Victory comes when a party focuses on generating its own goodwill than crying foul at the winner. The Roots of Jihadi Terror are in Saudi Arabia. Can the conservative Americans develop the Cajones to REFUSE TO USE SAUDI OIL in their cars? Can they stop working in or for Oil Companies who have Saudi Presence? Can they sotp voting for those who take contributions from Oil Companies who have done business with the House of Saud? This is the root of the problem, feeding the demon with dollars. This is a problem that only concerned citizens can solve, not the leaders. IP: Logged |
