I was really surprised to see my Navy friend who lives in Texas post a Daily Kos article. I've seen him be slightly political here and there, but mostly he's fairly centrist. He's a Taurus.

The article is fairly interesting, though, and makes some decent points:

15 things everyone would know if there were a liberal media

The things the article suggests a "liberal" media would cover are:

1. Where the jobs went.
2. Upward wealth redistribution and/or inequality.
3. ALEC.
4. The number of people in prison.
5. The number of black people in prison.
6. U.S. health care costs are the highest in the world.
7. Glass-Steagall.
8. Gerrymandering.
9. The number of bills blocked by Republicans in Congress.
10. The Citizens' United Supreme Court decision
11. Nixon’s Southern Strategy.
12. Tax cuts primarily benefit the wealthy.
13. What's happening to the bees?
14. The impact of temporary workers on our economy.
15. Media consolidation

Personally, I think some of these things have probably been tackled by what some might deem the "liberal" media, but I think the point of the editorial is that a truly "liberal" media would show MUCH more attention to the issues liberals are concerned with if it were liberal.

The last is why there is so little liberal media in the mainstream...most of the old liberal hangons are being replaced with sports channels and gossip. At one time it was true that the media were largely liberal, but that was onceupona! Prince Rupert is now focussing his efforts back home in Oz

The media is clearly liberal for the most part, but interesting points nonetheless. Very cool that you know him!
