So, I think I have several reasons why he is so popular.

1. No political correctness--Everyone knows political correctness is BS( even the people spouting it. They just won't be honest with themselves)
2. High personal integrity
3. Outrageously funny and is very brave about it. All humor takes a risk because it is only funny if it deals with unspoken truth. He takes great risks with his humor.
4. Honest about himself.

I listened to Rush for awhile. I heard formula, repetition, naughtiness that is nothing of the kind, and a mean spirit.

I agree, Bluejay, and I think rush's job and reason for his high pay is to sap peoples energy and turn them on each other...divided we fall. I don't know if Rush understands that or not.
