Five things Republicans hope to do if they win control of the Senate this fall:1. Try to pass measures backed by some congressional Democrats but opposed by President Barack Obama. This could include approving the Keystone XL oil pipeline and removing a tax on medical devices. Obama might find it difficult to veto such bipartisan efforts. 2. Highlight party differences on taxes, spending, regulations and other issues. Republicans could force Obama to veto — or Democratic senators to filibuster — GOP initiatives, painting Democrats as obstructionists. 3. Block confirmation of Obama's judicial and executive nominees who do not satisfy Republicans' demands. 4. Join the House in launching investigations into politically sensitive areas such as the Internal Revenue Service, environmental regulations and the killing of Americans in Benghazi, Libya, in 2012. 5. Appeal to conservatives by passing bills to repeal Obama's health care law and achieve other long-frustrated goals. Obama probably would veto such efforts, assuming they survive Democratic filibusters. But GOP lawmakers could argue they're doing all they can, and voters should elect a Republican president in 2016 to complete the work. http://news.yahoo.com/5-republican-goals-win-senate-nov-4-132040209.html IP: Logged |

I am yet to see a game changing economic policy/idea from the Republicans in the past several months. W inning the senate may be possible due to anti-incumbency against Obama but what good can they do for the American economy when there are no fresh ideas? There is no courage, no innovation and no risk taking ability in the current crop of Republicans. The Democrats might scrape through in the next elections even if they deserve to lose because when the opposition is bereft of ideas, people opt for the Status Quo.IP: Logged |

Republicans also need young, Secular Leaders with a Scientific and Multi Ethnic background who can recreate the magic of "Made in America" to revive growth in the economy. They have to silence their lunatic war monger fringe and fundamentalists while calling the bluff on the economic "Status Quo" mentality of the Democrats. Wars from 2001 till date have drained 4.4 trillion dollars from the US Economy [and the World Economy, as this money would have helped the whole Planet], yet there is no let up in Welfare. The situation is ripe for a Financial Genius/New Economy Industrialist like Bill Gates or Larry Ellison [Not a carpet bagger like Romney] to take control of the Republican Party and win a landslide mandate.
