Count down to results.

Depending on which news you listen to, both parties are poised to win...

U.S. governors seeking re-election face dissatisfied voters

(Reuters) - More than 30 U.S. governors' races will be decided on Tuesday, with more than a dozen considered too close to call and a large number of incumbents struggling to defend their economic policies as they seek to remain in office.

Hot-button issues from gun control to abortion restrictions and healthcare figure in some races.

For many voters, however, the economy has remained the central issue. An uneven recovery could prove the undoing of several incumbents, including the governors of Kansas and Pennsylvania, who are being held accountable for their states' fiscal woes.

So, what are the Vegas odds of Republicans taking over the majority in the US Senate?

Republicans win US Senate majority.

Republicans pick up 7 Senate seats formerly held by demoscats with several races still undecided which could increase their majority.

Currently, Republicans hold 52 Senate seats with Alaska votes not yet in and a run-off election in Louisiana scheduled for December.

It also appears Republican will pick up 10 or more additional House seats when all the votes are counted.

Sullivan defeats Begich in Alaska
November 12 2014
Doug Brady

The Republicans increased their new Senate majority in the early morning hours when the AP called the Alaska Senate race for Dan Sullivan.Via Becky Bohrer:

JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) — U.S. Sen. Mark Begich couldn’t pull off another election surprise as voter disapproval of President Barack Obama helped push him and other Democrats out of office.

Republican Dan Sullivan, a Marine Corps reservist and assistant secretary of state under President George W. Bush, defeated the first-term incumbent as part of a wave in which Republicans picked up eight seats and regained control of the Senate. Another Senate race is yet to be decided in Louisiana.

The Alaska race was too close to call on Election Night last week, with Sullivan up by about 8,100 votes, but it became evident Tuesday when the state began counting about 20,000 of absentee and questioned ballots that Begich could not overcome Sullivan.

In a statement, Sullivan said he ran a campaign Alaskans could be proud of and, moving forward, "I want to emphasize that my door will always be open to all Alaskans."

"While we have challenges to address, the opportunities in Alaska and our country are limitless. Today, we are going to begin the process of turning our country around," he said.

Begich, who has returned to Washington for the lame-duck session, won office in 2008. That year, he went to bed on Election Night trailing a wounded but still powerful Sen. Ted Stevens, who days before the election had been found guilty by a jury in a federal corruption trial. About two weeks later, Stevens conceded, with Begich winning by fewer than 4,000 votes. A judge later tossed the case against Stevens, causing many Republicans to see Begich’s election as a fluke.

Begich wouldn’t concede the race early Wednesday morning.

Of course he hasn’t conceded yet. A firm grip on reality has never been one of Begich’s strong suits. Perhaps when he shows up in Washington in January and finds Sullivan’s name on his office door he’ll get the message. Who knows. With Begich’s defeat, the Republicans have now picked up eight seats in the upper chamber and are likely to pick up one more on December 6th in Louisiana.

Election law in Louisiana is peculiar. If no candidate gets 50% of the vote, the 2 highest vote getters have another election...a run-off election on December 6th.

I believe Dr. Bill Cassidy, the Republican, is going to win that Senate seat too. That would be 9 new Senators...Republicans, in the next Congress and a Republican majority of 54 Senate seats.

Cassidy seems to be the candidate of choice and looks to win.

I clearly don`t understand their election law and think it should be as the other states election rules/laws.

Any idea why the difference?

demoscat, Mary Landrieu...who voted with the Marxist Messiah O'Bomber 97% of the time... defeated in Louisiana run-off election.

This brings 9 new Republican Senators to the US Senate where they will have a majority to go along with the Republican majority in the US House of Representatives for at least the next 2 years.

Dems' final insult: Landrieu crushed
Cassidy trounces incumbent with Republicans set to control 54 Senate seats in the next Congress.

Yeah, I can see where the baby killer set and the infanticide supporters who make money out of killing babies wouldn't want a prospective mother to see what's she's actually killing down at Murder Incorporated.

Oh, and your infanticide supporting Kay Hagen lost her election in North Carolina.

If it were put to a vote of the American people, Murder Inc...Planned Parenthood would lose every penny of federal financing.

Rachel Maddow already has her reward. Her viewing audience would fit into a phone booth..just like all the other leftist loons on MSNBC.

I have no connection to Kay Hagan so stop with the badgering already.

I am surprised that you are okay with government interfering in the doctor/patient relationship ... govt practicing medicine... isn't that what you objected to in obamacare?

Another day another hypocrisy, eh jwhop?

Enjoy your holidays

I don't think Maddow has as much to cry about as Shuckin Sean

Congrats on the “win,” Hannity. You’ve certainly earned the honor.

So, the loud mouthed dipstick got his award... finally
