Remember when everyone was moaning and blaming Obama for the rising Price of gas/oil? Now the same response is being given to the falling price of same. Wall Street HATES low oil pricesAs a firm opponent of fracking and rising Prices I see this as a good thing. What did we live on before Oil was Everything? Food and water? We may have to resOrt to renewables like other countries whose dependence on oil is being overtaken by clean energy. Perhaps there is hope for our children's survival yet? I can predict the reaction to this, even the Times seems worried but despite his MANY failings and the continued blame he will now receive for reversing the trend everyone was complaining about just yesterday, I see some light at the end of the pollution=profit tunnel

Crude Oil must fall to 10 dollars a barrel.
That will really improve the planet. Lot of good work occurring in Solar Energy, Germany has shown the Planet the right path. I am sure US, China and India will follow suit.IP: Logged |

Utter, complete Codswallop!So called "clean energy" is 3-5 times more expensive than coal, oil and natural gas. Additionally, the sun doesn't always shine...especially after dark and the wind doesn't always blow. So, we still need those coal, oil and natural gas burning power plants. Now, you tree hugger types may be willing to sit in the dark in your unheated, un-airconditioned dwellings but the rest of us would be happy to snatch you off the streets and send you to deserted islands where you can live out your lives in "little house on the prairie" conditions. Goodbye and good riddance! One more thing.
Your solar arrays and wind turbine farms are killing off the birds. So much for your pretense about giving a damn about nature.
Your diversion of food crop corn to make ethanol is starving the most vulnerable people on earth who are already on the edge of starvation. So much for your pretense you give a damn about the lives of the most vulnerable among us. IP: Logged |

Yes ethanol is a ridiculous prospect. Though the corn they are using is not fit for human consumption...the solar "farms" are a ludicrous idea designed by those used to monopolizing power production. Totally unnecessary, unless GE's profit margin is your chief concernBut Your Ignorance knows it all. Apparently you haven't heard that clear skies and heavy winds are unnecessary for clean power. Or that rooftop solar doesn't concentrate the energy enough to harm birds, Nor that new turbines are being designed to protect them. But don't let that stop you and your utter disdain for facts. I could care less what you think, there is no need to sacrifice convenience for pollution. The fact that the price of oil is dropping is good news for everyone. Thousands of new jobs, lower energy prices, less pollution and more money to spend in the marketplace...without sacrificing your precious gadgets. IP: Logged |

Of course the strains of corn used for ethanol production is "different" from strains used for human consumption and animal feed stocks. With the federal government paying farmers a surcharge for planting ethanol corn and paying oil companies a surcharge to add ethanol to gasoline, farmers took millions of acres of food crop corn out of production...to plant ethanol corn crops. There's almost no place in America where roof mounted solar panels will produce enough electricity to run a household without hookup to the good old coal, oil and natural gas fed electric grid. Sure, pipedreams...like the world being spherical, man flying, space travel...
We have more sun here than other places who not only use solar, but give citizens shares in it, and while coal and oil may continue awhile they are fast losing traction due to the pollution they cause, and will take a back seat.
But you will still be saying solar doesn't work I'm sure...change is soooo scary isnt it? How's your horse and buggy holding up? IP: Logged |

~Barack Hussein O'Bomber~Right now, solar and wind produced electricity are 3-5 times higher than the cost per kilowatt of electricity produced by coal, oil and natural gas. Yet, solar and wind generated electricity are MANDATED to be a certain percentage of electrical power produced....and charged for. We need to get O'Bomber and his grubby little Socialist idiots far away from the levers of power in America. If European nations want to destroy their economies by chasing the myth/pipedream of so called "clean energy", let them go for it.
