The campaign went viral when students took photos of their lunches and shared them on Twitter using the hashtag #ThanksMichelleObama."

Sooo her fault. She should be out there cooking every meal! Bad cooks are the culprit not the guidelines for ingredients.

Of course many kids would rather eat pizza....loaded with sugar and flavor "enhancers"... and drink pepsi... does that make them nutritious?

A lot of people think healthy food is more expensive than junk. Its not but it doesn't disguise poor cooking as well. People eat fast food because they don't have time or motivation to cook. Not because its cheaper!

But hey, its Michelle's fault, after all her nose is too long for your tastes, right?

Link works fine.

Michelle Hussein O'Bomber should get her long bony busybody nose out student lunch choices.

She wouldn't eat this garbage and she sure as hell wouldn't feed it to her own daughers....who btw, go to private school which isn't under her busybody rule making.

Her kids eat organic out of their own garden. I remember public school lunches. Vegetables rotting in hot trays, slop and worse. Now they have pizza deliveries and coke machines ... which many kids may prefer but many kids are struggling with weight and learning disabilities.

Are you suggesting that sending her kids to private school means she shouldn't try to educate poorer peopk e about food? Or that schools should be funded well enough to run a decent kitchen?

Sorry but bad cooking does not mean packaged plastic foods are good for anyone. The problem is in the execution

From the comments a teacher from Texas writes

I work at an elementary school in a large city in Texas. This is not representative of what I see. I am a conservative, generally vote Republican and I am not a cafeteria worker. I have lunch duty with the Kindergarteners every day. Our cafeteria workers are wonderful and they do a great job (but the food does come from a central kitchen each day). The worst thing I can say about the food is that it isn't properly seasoned (because it might have some GASP - SALT in it) and often the vegetables are too soft from overcooking/sitting over a steam table waiting to be served. Daily I see things the kids like to eat - chicken nuggets (not fried), cheeseburgers made with lean meat, nachos, quesadillas, chicken/rice bowls, pasta, pizza, etc. They are supposed to take an entrée and 2 or 3 sides, but they don't always do what they're supposed to, although they are reminded. I guarantee you that the small-looking meals you see in the photos are not ALL the food the child could have taken from the options offered. I will tell you, though, what DOES disgust me is the stuff that parents send from home - lunchables EVERY DAY (salt, fat, empty calories), "juice" drinks, candy, "hot chips", fruit snacks (which shouldn't be allowed to be labeled with the word fruit), sodas, bottled caffeinated sweetened TEA (for KINDERGARTENERS). I worry much more about what the parents are sending with their kids (although that is their right, of course) than what is being served from the cafeteria line.

The O'Bomber kids eat lunch at the private school they attend and it's not O'Bomber Mystery Mush they're eating.

"Daily I see things the kids like to eat - chicken nuggets (not fried), cheeseburgers made with lean meat, nachos, quesadillas, chicken/rice bowls, pasta, pizza, etc."

These items are not part of O'Bomber's Long Nosed Busybody Meddlers diet for school children.

What are the little darlings eating these days, jwhop? Where is it coming from? Who's cooking it? Who's trucking it in? What's the price and who's paying it? Who has the contracts and who's signing them? Give us something more than whiny teenage texts.

Jwhop's sources never would slant the truth, would they? Of course the texan schoolteacher must be lying and kids on twitter never go there for a laugh.

Of course Nancy Reagan going on tv to tell kids to "Just say no" really changed the minds of 80s teens. Why isn't SHE on the list of significant American women?

When gathering evidence to convince my husband we should home school our son, I printed a copy of the local elementary school's weekly lunch menu. Exhibit #156. But tbf school lunches sucked in the 80s, too. Ketchup is a vegetable, Cat.

C'mon back and talk Sodexo with me, Big Daddy.

When my daughter went to middle school one of the reasons I took her out waa the coke and candy machines she spent her lunch money on.that was the 90s.

The food at my Secondary school was terrific... there were all of 200 of us! Everyone had cake on their birthday ... real cake. My grandson barters with his homemade lunch for cafeteria items.

Ie were not talking about General conditions caused by this administration

Don't even attempt to dispute O'Bomber's school nutrition program prohibits schools under the program from serving burgers, fries, pizza, hot dogs, grilled cheese sandwiches potato chips, Fritos, pretzels or much of anything else other than O'Bomber Mystery Mush.

As usual, long nosed busybody meddlers got it wrong.

Children aren't overweight because of the fat, sugar and protein they eat. They're overweight because they don't get enough physical exercise. PE...physical exercise should immediately be reinstituted and required daily for all school grades through high school senior classes.

There were few "fat" kids and almost no "obese" kids when I went to school and it wasn't because we didn't eat fats, meat proteins and almost everything the O'Bomber Mystery Mush School Lunch Program prohibits. Nor, was it because we ate those foods sparingly. We didn't.

Michelle Obama's school lunch disaster
Thomas Lifson

By making herself queen of the school lunchroom, Michelle Obama has managed to screw things up almost as badly as Obamacare has screwed up health insurance, albeit on a smaller scale. The Twitter hashtag #thanksmichelleobama accompanying pictures of inedible school cafeteria slop is evidence that a generation of nanny state-hating youngsters will eventually enter the voting booth, just as many of their parents are turning on Democrats over Obamacare. And like Obamacare devastates family finances with high deductibles and cost increases for many, the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act that Mrs. Obama pushed so hard is devastating the finances of school lunch programs.

Paul Bedard reports in the Washington Examiner:

More than half of the nation’s school cafeteria workers expect to lose money selling low-salt, low-fat meals pushed by first lady Michelle Obama, a “serious” problem that threatens the programs, according to a survey of food providers.

The School Nutrition Association, which is planning to demand changes to the meal requirements to make the food more attractive to students, found that 50.35 percent of cafeteria officials surveyed expect that serving the food will “exceed revenue” next year. (snip)

As a result, the group plans to ask the administration to let schools ease up on the low-salt and fruit and vegetable demands. In fact, they plan to seek a recess from being required to put fruit and veggies on meal trays, according to a draft proposal.

Michelle Obama is the very image of an out-of-touch do-gooder, heedlessly creating problems in her efforts to do something “nice.”***Make that a long nosed meddling busybody!***

By the way, her own children are not subject to the act she pushed on the rest of us. Take a look at the menu at the ultra-expensive Sidwell Friends School attended by Sasha and Malia, uncovered by the Daily Caller:

For Tuesday, Dec. 9, the scrumptious, bountiful lunch menu for both the middle school and the upper school at Sidwell Friends is:

Potato Sausage Soup; Firecracker Slaw; California Chef’s Salad; All Natural Jamaican Jerk Chicken Wings; Sweet Potato Black Bean Bake; Sautéed Local Greens; Gemelli Alfredo; Sliced Pineapple

This menu of completely free lunch items certainly sounds delicious and nutritious. Also, to be clear, it’s for a single day, not the entire week.

Michelle Antionette might as well say, “Let them eat kale.”
