State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf appears to have entirely too much time on her hands. They should give her some busy work to fill up her day, like conducting tours of the State Department for high school kids or something.

How long did it take Harf to find a terrorist group with a Christian flavor to it? She settled on Joseph Kony's Lord's Resistance Army, a guerrilla group that operated in Uganda more than a decade ago and is currnetly almost defunct.

Curiously, Harf seemed unaware that Kony was no longer a threat to anyone - except perhaps his dog who he probably kicks regularly - and that the Lord's Resistance Army was far more nationalist than religious in its orientation.

State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf drew attention to Joseph Kony’s “Christian militant” group Wednesday when discussing the threat posed by extremist groups around the globe.

During a interview on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” on Wednesday, Ms. Hart talked about the need for U.S. to enlist allies in its ongoing counterterrorism efforts. She then referenced the African warlord Joseph Kony.

“We have over 60 countries from around the world who are facing a number of different kinds of extremist threats. … If you at the Lord Resistance Army and Kony — Joseph Kony — I don’t remember people talking about that as much anymore, but that’s a Christian militant group. So there are a lot of different extremist threats we face and a lot of tools to go after each one of them,” said the spokeswoman, the Washington Free Beacon reported.

Earth to airhead Harf: You don't remember people talking about Kony anymore because he's no longer a threat, his organization has all but disbanded, and word is that Kony is dying anyway.

Even when the Lord's Resistance Army was at tis most active, they were no threat to the US, or Europe, or Asia, or just about anyone else except Uganda's neighbors. Remnants of his organization are either in South Sudan or the Democratic Republic of the Congo where they fit right in with other armed groups who can't stop killing each other.

If this is the best Harf can do in finding a Christian counterpart to Islamic State or AQ, she should be fired. Not every single terrorist group in the world is Muslim. But you would be hard pressed to find a non-Muslim terrorist outfit that threatens innocents beyond the borders of where they originate.

I suppose that's just "too nuanced" for some State Department spokeswomen to grasp.
